I'm trying to find if there is a reason for it.
I have the same problem here with my Pre3. My time intervall is set to 5 minutes, but most of my recieved messages are out of this intervall. I only get these messages when I'm opening the app from minimized mode. But this only happens when my phone is lying around for some time and than a messages arives. When I'm constantly writing with someone and I close the app to background mode I also get the new messages. Perhaps only if they are between 5 minutes? I didn't check this.

    But besides this: GREAT APP
    Thank you very much

    - Message font size included in preferences
    - Fixed some other minor bugs

    v1.0.0 - September 21, 2012
    - Public release!
    - Max phone length corrected in account configuracion

    INSTALLATION AND EXECUTION NOTES:
    -----------------------------------
    - Download above .ipk file. Install it in your device using Preware, Internalz or WebOSQuickInstall.
    - Maybe the first time you launch the app you will see an empty card. In this case relaunch application.
    - Due to the fact that is an hybrid app, the plugin has to be associated to a webos 'stage'. So, the only way to run it in background is minimizing as a dashboard stage.
    - Another problem I found is that webos blocks socket connections when device goes slepp after a few minutes. So, you cannot receive or send messages after wake up. To only way to keep awake device all the time is to use Power Manager service, but it really drains battery life. For this reason I added in preferences the possibility of choosing reconnection intervals when app is in backgroud (dashboard).

    Hi,
First of all GRACIAS for this application.
After a few days playing with it, I would like to share some suggestion:
    * By far the less liked feature is having the icon the whole time in the notification area.
I know that is the only way for an hybrid app to avoid that the service just dies.
BUT, if we set up the checking intervals, isn't there a way for set some type of "cron job" that lauches the service every "n" minutes, logs in, checks if there is a new message and leaves a notification if there is or dies (until gets restarted by the cron) if there isn't any?
I know that shouldn't be the case for a "messaging type of app", but if we are happy checking only every 15 mins, what is the harm?

    * The "missing contacts" is another area that could improve.
In my case all my contact's work mobiles are marked as "work", meaning the they won't show up.
That could we handled in a few ways
1.- Give the option of load ALL the numbers.
2.- Set up a set of country dependent Regular expressions for find out if a number is a mobile (maybe too error prone)
3.- Add a way for allow us to manually type a number when we want to send a message to someone that does't show up in the contacts

On top of that, when a message arrives from somebody that is not in the contacts (when it shows up like number@s.whatsup.net ) the app could parse ALL the contacts on the phone trying to find a match for show the contact's name instead

I hope that those personal suggestions are usefull for something else

    Thank you very much

    P.D. Sorry for my english.
First of all, thanks to develop this app. It's great! I'm now connected to the world!!!!

I realize that now my battery life is less... I assume it's the whatsup app. I don't use whatsapp a lot (yet), but I'd like to understand how it works.
When someone sends me a whatsapp... how the notification/message reaches my Pre2? Is the whatsup app checking online? Is there a socket listening?
I changed the properties to reconnect every 2 or 24hours but I don't see any difference.

I'd like to optimize the battery use configuring whatsup properly.

    As I said, great job!!!!

this is a great app. thanks for the hard work. Donation will be on the way...

Just a question. I noticed that the app, whether it's windowed or closed, there is an icon (which i'm fine with) but the battery that it uses is really high...500mah and it reaches up to 700mah (even with the USB cable connected) difference from when i am not using it (and the only way I can force close this app is restarting the phone..(or maybe a luna restart). The option of the 5min, 10min check for msg is not helping in reducing battery usage.
  6. #406
Is it really possible that NO ONE minds a webos 1.4.5 version????????????????????
    :-(
  7. #407
Downloaded your fixed 1.2 version, loving it! I've just made a second donation.

The new contacts view with status is great. By the way, I actually like the simple way MojoWhatsapp manages contacts, I have no problems at all, but understand others might have. For me the best thing is being able to use the service without sending my whole phone list to those people. No, thanks! ;-)

I've noticed that my friends have silly phrases beneath their contact (such as "Hey, I'm using WhatsApp"), can you add that feature somewhere, or the APIs don't provide it?

Also, last night my Pre 3 ate 20% of battery even in night mode (both cellular data and WiFi radios off), even after exiting MojoWhatsApp. Do you suspect that, even after exiting, something keeps running in the background, and kills battery?
Pre 3 on GSM Jazztel: UberKernel, Muffle logging & friends, Mode Switcher, Advanced System Menus & Prefs, and then some more.

Proudly choosing the loser side since 1982: Commodore VIC-20, C-64, Amiga 1000 & 3000, bPlan Pegasos & MorphOS, Psion Revo, Palm Pre...
  8. #408
I've installed v1.2 on my Palm Pre2 and this seem to work flawlessly.
After some time I noticed that my battery drains faster than before, about 50% in 4 hours time...
The Pre2 has been powered off/on, no previous versions of MojoWhatsup have been installed.

Changing the 'background Get Messages' interval to 12 hours does not seem to have any effect.

So I can confirm the shorter battery life what the former poster already noticed.

    .
Great job. Just donated for few beers

I have few usability suggestions that would make the application more user friendly:

    1. when choosing "send location" automatically get the GPS position (it is kind of an extra step to push: get location)
    2. when getting the location from somebody else, is it possible to open it using an already installed 3rd party application such as Google Maps instead of Bing Maps for example? I have Google Maps defined as my default maps application on my Pre 3 but WhatsApp still opens the location using Bing Maps
    3. show only the contacts that have WhatsApp installed instead of the entire Contact List
    4. pop up the notification bar only when a message arrives

    Cheers!

No, it was outside the time interval. Doesn't happen always. Later yesterday everything was back to OK.
I stil can't figure what causes it.

    1.2.0
The good: Contact status, Open photos work nicely.

The bad: I think (and I want others to say if they noticed) that chatting is a bit slower. When I sent a message it takes more time to appear in chat window. Also sometimes problem in loading chat history. History is not loaded (an the previous messages button is greyed out) or loaded very slowly.
As I said these may be in my case, but I didn't have this problem with 1.1.0 and 1.0.0
    Can anyone confirm ?

The "Hey, I'm using WhatsApp" is the default contact status for the App. This goes for our case too. Other people see us with this status.

I will check battery drain with 1.2.0 because I saw some people complaining, so I can confirm or not.

Exactly this. This happens when the phone is lying around. I was at work yesterday and didn't check the phone for some hours and then I saw the messages when I opened the app and after a friend asked me.
If I'm using the phone and just turn it off, then the following minutes everything works ok from the dashboard.

    plz only as option

i like the way your whatsup is not giving all numbers to whatsapp-network, but if every number is listed and the app can now automatically check the numbers-status, you would also send all numbers to the whatsapp network. that's why i would like to see options for that, i'm ok with "checking status" by tapping on a "know using whatsapp"-number and see when it last posted.

WebOS devices with 1.4.5 software are NOT supported! Only 2.0 and above!

Ok, just installed the 1.2.0 version on my Touchpad. Works as described (as the 1.0.0v) plus the statuses, sending photos, audio, etcetera now works. Also, when viewing a contact and going back, goes to the contact list. Good. I'll try it now on my Pre3... Works good. There are some minor issues, like sending a message and having to go out the chat and re-enter to see it and when receiving as well (on both TP and Pre3).
I have my schedule to receive messages "as arrived". Not any issue there. Messages comes when sent (tried it with my wife). On the 1.0.0 version, battery life was not affected much, I'll see with 1.2.0v.
When installing 1.2.0v on the TP, I erased the 1.0.0v .ipk file. So every chat and history went... lets say somewhere I can't find it (hell!). Now, when I installed it on my Pre3, I din't erased it, so my history and chat was there when I opened the MojoWhatsUp app.
Question: Leaving each .ipk version file is counterproductive, right? They weight about 3.x Mbits. Just saying...
    Another question:
Why can the updates of MojoWhatsUp be like normal updates on Preware and have to be through .ipk file installation? Don't have any problem doing so, just curious.
P.S.: I have a Palm Pre Plus around there that I want to give to my little sister, and I know we'll benefit from having MojoWhatsUp to 1.4.5 webOS devices. So, a + here. If not, I'll meta-doctor it, though I've never done it.
    UPDATE:
3 hours later of this post, it just clicked in my mind.
MojoWhatsUp synergy.... Nananana! Wait...not messaging synergy, but apps synergy (if that's how it's called). Let's say, I want to send a tweet to a MojoWhatsUp contact, or a Facebook status, or a linkedin contact or résumé. Wouldn't it be great to have the ability to share webOS Nation's (unofficial app) articles with MojoWhatUp contacts? I say it would.

this is a great app. thanks for the hard work.

I had the same issue, you can close the app an the service using the "exit" menu option.
