Well, this is my problem, but always... Hummm... only with low memory?

Yes for me it usually happens when device is running really low on memory and Luna is about to freeze up. At the same time when that happens, all my Chinese fonts when displayed via the small incoming notification becomes a white stripe, which is actually a well known webOS bug for double byte character fonts. Somehow there's a memory leak causing the font cache to corrupt, and eventually when more notifications come in, phone will freeze.

That's why I have to do frequent Luna resets, especially after receiving a lot of Chinese texts.

    Googlecache Dump of FAQ:

    1. I have problems with the app
Have you updated to the latest version already and have you read the first posting for not included features and installation/execution notes? Have you already read this FAQ?
There could be a betaversion not mentioned in first posting. If you would like to test this, go to one of the last thread pages to find links and comments on it.

    2. How to enter registration data correctly
CC: country-code (without + infront ) e.g. 64 (for NZ) – (Special formatting needed in Mexico and Argentina )
Number: your mobile number without starting 0. so instead of 012-1234567 enter 121234567 (without spaces).
Username: any username you would like to use (perhaps use an easy one without special chars and spaces)
Password: use any password (since Mojowhatsup version 1.5 the password is generated by WA-Server and sent/saved to phone in registration answer field ‘pw=XX…XX=’)

    3. I recieve no SMS to register:
Mojowhatsup is mainly an phone-device messaging software, so do your registration with an webOS phone that can recieve SMS (no TouchPad-only registration possible).
It can take very long (1 day) to get the a SMS (even if it was fast the last time). Wait before asking, then wait again and do not register over-and-over again, as this will result in other problems.
You could also try to use the new voice method to request the registration code (but this lately resulted in calls by Whatsapp-supportguys telling our “device is not supported”, so be carefull to do so).

“If you registered before on the same phone and happen to lose your registration, try using the same SMS code from the last request. It seems like the code will just work.”

As the registration method is often changed it could happen that it needs some time to implement a fix, if registration is needed in this time you could try to use one of these:

    * 01/2015: Use extracted password by temporarily registering on an Android device (or even CM on TP) and just login the on MWU (not registering on MWU): MojoWhatsup (a Whatsapp client for webos) - BE AWARE not to have 2 WA clients open at the same time !!
° open original WhatsApp on an other Android-Phone (or TouchPad with CM) to optain the registration code for your webOS phonenumber. Then close Android Whatsapp and enter the sms code you got on your webOS phone in MWU. (This seems not to work atm (01/2015) use password extract method above)
° webservice by the guys of the wazapp forum at Maemo.org http://whitesoft.dyndns.org:2222/whatsapp_sms (could perhaps change, so more and you have to trust those guys as you are giving your cellnumber to them)
° an Android emulation software on a PC like BlueStacks ( pictured install-help ) or YouWave

    4. I recieve a error: status=fail-too-recent result= 60 ?
It is a message from Whatsapp server, you tried to register too often whitout waiting. Wait a while (minimum 1 day), then read this whole FAQ again and try again , then wait again for registration SMS.

    5. It doesn’t start with my webOS 1.4.5 (Pre-/Pixi…):
For the time being developer has NO intention to release an app version for webOS 1.4.5 for Pre-,Pixi (Plus).
(Update: Pixi/Pre with webOS 2.1+ can try the MojoWhatsup Version 1.4.2+)

    6. Why are not all contacts from my adress book listed in the app?
Firstly WA is working with mobile phone devices so you have to have the mobile numbers of your contacts in your webOS adressbook (contacts-app). It seems to be a good idea to enter the mobile numbers in international format +64 123 987654 in your webos contacts app and set the type (label after the number) to ‘MOBILE’ (or the word in your language for mobile device). (Special formatting in Mexico needed)
Sometimes the formerly as ‘MOBILE’ entered numbers in contacts change their label to ‘OTHER’ after syncing (Google, EAS) – please check twice in contacts.
Sometimes you perhaps can’t change those types (synergy read-only provider e.g. Facebook) so there is an preferences option “contacts” in mojowhatsup to allow other types of numbers too. After setting all this try a complete device shutdown/restart before asking in forum.

    7. Why is it not integrated into messages (synergy)?
This is a standalone app project, a synergy-version project is elsewhere in this forum.

    8. When i close the card, the app is still running (in tray)?
If you want to close the app, use Menu-Exit

    9. Why is the app minimized to the notification area (tray) and not in background?
This is due to webOS not being able to run background apps.

    10. My battery drains much faster now
MWU does eat up some battery power. Check manually for new messages, if you want to have less battery drain: Open app for every check instead of staying connected all the time (small icon in tray). After each check, close app completely by tapping up left for MWU menu and bottom option ‘Exit’.

    11. How to make a group-chat?
Go to Chats – Menu “Create new Group” – Go into this group – Menu “Group Properties” – add participants. There you can also delete a group.

    12. How to backup chat history or transfer the whole account to other webOS device (TouchPad, another Phone…)?

    13. How can I install MojoWhatsup?
First download the last version from here
Then follow this tutorial to install the downloaded .ipk file.

    14. How do I enter my friend’s number so they appear in WhatsApp? (see also “Special note for certain countries” on that page)

    15. What is the Log-in button for?
With new accounts generated with version 1.5+ the password is generated/stored automatically. But if you want to use the same account on an other webOS device (e.g Touchpad) with previously registered data, you can enter it here.

    16. Where can i find the password that was shown on registration message?
The servergenerated pw (password v2) is stored in a cookie.
To see app’s cookies you can use Impostah. You can download it from Preware. Use the App cookies button, select com.palm.mojowhatsup application, appdata cookie and tap on value: one of the shown attributes is the password
(To use same account on other webOS devices try backup with save&restore in this FAQ)
    17. How to update MWU
Best way is to install a new version over the existing one, so all accountdata and conversations stay. If you need to uninstall the old version, you could think about msking a bsckup of this data (find manual in this FAQ), to have it restored into the new app version. Easiest way to update is to use in app updatelink, which needs Preware or Internalz to be set the filehandler for .ipk files to be to recognized by one of them.
    *

    18. Open Location-Link in homebrew googleMaps instead of Bing
These commands let the location paarameters sent to you via wa open in gmaps. As on every device the id is different you have build your own command: New Google Maps for WebOS - native javascript API

    Problems in 1.5.6:
    1. Registration doesn’t work again Try one of the alternatives of FAQ #3 or use fixed 1.6.0 (Fixed last registration problem (fail-old-version).)

    Problems in 1.5.5:
    1. Registration doesn’t work again Try one of the alternatives of FAQ #3 or use fixed 1.5.6 (Fixed last registration problem (fail-old-version).)

    Problems in 1.5.4:
    1. SMS/voice registration does not work (Fixed in 1.5.5)

    Bugs in 1.5.3:
    1. You can’t register with webos app at the moment cause of protocol change. also don’t try voice registration as unblocking is needed then* (Fixed in 1.5.4)

Bugs since 03/23/2013 (on every version):
    1. It seems due to a protocol change media/image upload does not work anymore. Stay tuned for more (Fixed in 1.5.3)

    Bugs in 1.4.3:
    1. You can’t register with webos app at the moment cause of protocol change. (Fixed in version 1.5.0)
    As workaround try this:
    1. Find friend with old(3 digit SMS-code) iPhone or Android-Whatsapp Version? New versions not working have 6-digit SMS-code.
    2. Make him put in your cellphone number in his whatsapp and generate a registration. Send 3-digit SMS code to your number/phone/Pre3
    3. Fill in 3-digit SMS code in mojowhatsapp, make up a password preferable 8 letters (no capitals, just low case) and no numbers
    4. Register in mojowhatsapp
    5. Login in mojowhatsapp

    Bugs in 1.4.1:

    1. I get a plug-in error every day. It’s a know bug in 1.4.1.
“Please, those of you with the plugin problem can send the developer the /var/log/messages file generated after the error ?” – Then be patient and wait for a new version. Perhaps this procedure also helps, but you will loose all chat history (if not backuped before).

    2. There are no image/video preview thumbnails in the messages anymore: Known bug in 1.4.1 (Fixed in version 1.4.2)

    3. Timestamps of incoming offline messages are set to recieving-time not send-time (Fixed in version 1.4.2)

Anyone still got the ipk locally? In any case I think it makes sense to spread it so it doesn't get lost...

What I really don't get though: the reasons people are doing this is because Whatsapp refuses to support dead platforms (which is kind of understandable from an economic point of view)... however I really fail to see what advantage the Whatsapp developers gain from removing such stuff from github... I mean... do they really believe people will move to a supported platform and finally PAY them after such moves?! WTF?!

I mean it's not like any of the projects allowed users to use whatsapp without ever paying for it (which would be hard to realize anyway given it's a server-based application) so what's the damage Whatsapp takes by people using it?

Anyway: sucks to see they think they don't need users refusing to move to any of their supported platforms... I really don't see myself paying the fee to extend my accounts lifespan for another year at the moment

I do not understand their position. For example, Loqui IM is a multi-chat client for Firefox OS that supports Whatsapp. The company that supports this app seems to have permission to access Whatsapp servers. http://waalt.com/docs/news/20131115-WhatsApp.pdf but "surprisingly" the code is available at Github for free under AGPL3 license (https://github.com/loqui/im).

By the way, They provide a full javascript library for Whatsapp called CoSeMe (https://github.com/loqui/im/tree/dev/scripts/anonymous ). This can help to create the much desired integration with the native messaging application of Webos or create a real background service for MojoWhatsup.

Well there's not much information about Waalt, it's possible they did contact WhatsApp prior to that or maybe they are thinking about opening up the API through them and started shutting down the other third party ones, wild uneducated guess at this point. They seem to be the only third party client that actually uses WhatsApp's official icon, so I would say there's probably some agreement going on there.

EDIT: article seems to say they don't have permission and was boasting how WA can't differentiate their client from the official one. Plot thickens...

Second point is interesting. Antonio you have plans to pursue that route for MWU?

Well the IPKs are hosted on Dropbox and Box... I doubt they will send takedown notices to those.

    Synergy would be so awesome!

I have a problem with MWU in the Touchpad. Before I had it working in both (Pre³ and TP) as desired, but now it doesn't recognizes my user information. When I log in, it prompts the password option. I enter it (I know it because I always make a screen-shot of it when I first introduce the WA code), but it says "password failure or incorrect". Anyone has overpass this situation?

The "bestest" of my regards to the greatest community of all.
