LOL, every time this comes up I laugh... my TP stays locked in portrait mode.

@Astraware, are you folks going to continue updating the totalizer? Just curious to see how sales go now that Casino is out, since most of us speculated that would be the most in demand.
I love physical keyboards... but there is two devices that would make me consider a slab, one is something running a full version of Open webOS. The other is an iPhone!!!! HA HA just kidding (about the iPhone that is)...

We have continued to add on to the total for the last couple of days. We may not update every day, but I think someone will continue with it.

I (that's Alison for those of you who know) am actually leaving Astraware at the end of March to move home and jobs, so my colleague Priscilla will take over looking after this account. She's been with Astraware almost as long as me, so knows the history with Palm & everything. She'll also be be posting on Twitter/Facebook etc.

im not really a sudoku/solitaire kinda person but i bought em regardless (i did like solitaire a bit, reminded me of an old klondike game i played on the amiga years ago, but my attention span on that isnt very long), guessing sales of those 2 arent as high because their not as fun or theres already decent alternatives out there.

Cant say the casino things my thing either, that blob app sounds like it may be different tho, will probably get that.

Thank Alison for all she's done here...and we appreciate you Priscilla for taking up the Palm/HP, webOS scepter over at Astraware! It may be a small scepter, perhaps more of a crayon really, but like webOS, it can really leave a mark!

Yes, I do understand and I still support your efforts (I have bought 2 of the 4). I am just interested to see if others feel as I do - that landscape mode is the way to go for tablets.

I see about another 100 purchases on TouchPad Totalizer since yesterday. Now that 'the story is out' on the availability of Casino, I hope to see that number grow. Please keep it running!

BTW, Astraware, any predictions on when OddBlob for TP will be done? Also, since you guys have ported over about 4 or 5 games now, are you feeling more efficient at the process...game to try another one? Inquiring minds would like to know

As we've just released Astraware Casino, work on OddBlob has paused temporarily. We have some other ongoing projects for non-webOS platforms that we need to complete too.

As far as other projects go, we really need to see more substantial sales on the existing Touchpad titles before we can definitely commit to more. Whilst we want to continue to support the platform, we also have to balance that against development for other platforms which generate greater revenue and profit. If sales were higher, it would be a much easier decision.

if I had any idea how the port process worked, I'd do it for you in my spare time. Not that I have copious amounts of spare time, but I'd do it.

(I was kidding about not buying it, of course I bought it)

First thing to say, its to appreciate all of the efforts of Astraware for their continuous support of the WebOS platform. I do like a gaming company like Astraware that even though all the bad things that WebOS had gone through with HP mismanagement, it still supports with bringing more apps to the HP Catalog. However, I do have a small little complaint here with the words: " more substantial sales on the existing Touchpad titles before we can definitely commit to more. "

Due to the matter, that even though people got to support their families and bring food to the tablet with making a profit with the sales of your games(for obvious reasons). I don't like the term of placing OddBlod on standhold for a period of time to dedicate to other more popular platforms(hence iOS or Google). In my opinion it isn't a fair for WebOS users to be left behind while other platforms get more advantage over the other ones which clearly just only lack a market impact(of userbase). I think that money shouldn't always be the priority when expanding to other platforms, specially continuous support of it.

I read an earlier post by Astraware, when it comes to updating your apps and making more projects to give out more apps to the HP Catalog. Another thing that I see, about being on the negative side again. So only if sales are higher your apps will get updated, not fair for those users who bought your apps and are expecting a nice update to them. Because you are only hindering are the sales of your own apps as well, cause at the end of the day more people will not be willing to purchase an app from that specific company. Please, for future reference give out nice updates to those apps you already have on the HP Catalog, in order for me to continue supporting Astraware apps.

    Thanks,

I think it's totally reasonable what and how they do it. First of all, they already put efforts on developing for webOS, which they could have put on other platforms and get much more revenue in return. Second of all, it's clear they are not a big company so it makes perfect sense that they need to use their resources smart. Plus they JUST released the Casino. They also have other platforms to support you know. And it's also not smart to release another new game shortly after the former one to compete with themself.

What kind of updates do you need for these games? There are no major bugs. And there are NO GAMES on webOS that work on both landscape and portrait modes as far as I know.

What on earth makes you feel entitled to free upgrades of completely unspecified nature, for something that you paid less than a good cup of coffee's price for? Sure, some of us do rapid development style, where things get updated regularly, and we like to give that to the existing users, but that's sure not everyone, and it shouldn't be expected and especially not demanded with a threat. I have one app that I have updated 2-3 times a month since it came out, as I keep finding new things that I want to add to it, and tweaking and adjusting as I use it. I have one app that although it has had frequent updates, it's not likely to get any major new features anytime soon, because it's already complete. (of course, the one that I update stupidly regularly, I thought it was complete 6 months ago when I realeased it.. but it was only complete from my limited point of view then)

I don't even know what Astraware's intentions are, but with software that is this well developed to begin with, I wouldn't be surprised if updates are few and far between.

Buy Astraware's apps because they are complete, they are good, and more importantly, they are fun. Buy Astraware's apps so that they may continue to support the platform. You've got it quite backwards, PalmPixi_User23. People who are in the commercial software business need to have paying customers to continue supporting their products, otherwise they tend to disappear.

Just bought Casino. Well made and good fun for many hours. Not sure about Oddblob and how much work still needs to be done. Maybe the other iPad title; Weird worlds is easier to port. I guess the genre might also attract more buyers. Anyone else some thoughts on this one?

Hi (still Alison here til the end of the week).

Thanks for all the kind words.

PalmPixi_User23, what updates are you expecting? The Touchpad games we've released on to the App Catalog include all the same features as their iPad equivalents? So right now, we're not adding any additional features to either platform. Most of the games we've ported are pretty mature, so as someone mentioned above, there's not so much to add, but if a firmware update were to break something, we'd definitely do our best to fix anything we were able to.

With regard to additional games - we've seen some nice sales for Astraware Casino over the weekend - taking us up to 5531 on the Touchpad Totalizer. We'll continue to monitor this whilst we get OddBlob up to speed.

To answer the question as to why it's taking longer.... when we did OddBlob for Mac OS we made changes to the orientation of the game, and to the balancing of the levels to make the game more challenging and fun. As we can't port directly from the MacOS version, we have to move those changes back into the iOS version before we can bring it across to webOS. Hopefully someone can pick that up again very soon so you can get an additional game in the App Catalog!

Well, if it helps Atraware to keep developing for WebOS, then I'll buy Sudoku - even though I probably won't play it.

Sorry, but I won't by Casino - I have an inate objection to gambling (for me, that is - I don't care if others do it).

I too bought Sudoku, plaid it once, seems like a good app, just not a bid sudoku player personally. Mahjong is awesome and got a lot more play than I thought it would when I purchased it.

The only app I haven't bought is solitaire, I already have an awesome solitaire app I bought back in July, and have become friends with the developer. Looking forward to odd blob too, never played it before, but from the description sounds fun.

Also for us, we love Casino, had it on both Centros, and both Palm Profiles for phones and 2 of our TouchPads.

Saw that this morning, not horrible for a platform left for dead by the manufacturer in August.
