I just got a touchpad, and even the pdf that comes on the device (the open source information.pdf) will fail to open, I have upgraded to 3.0.4 and even tried installing the patch here http://forums.precentral.net/webos-p...ewed-page.html to see if that helped but nope no pdfs will open up.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    1. put device into developer mode
    2. novaterm to device
    3. rm -rf /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications/com.quickoffice.ar
    4. rm -rf /media/internal/appdata/com.quickoffice.ar
    5. reboot TP
    6. after reboot version present in /usr/palm/ipks directory (should be 10.3.351) will be automatically installed - wait little bit
    7. start Adobe Reader - go to Menu -> About ...
    ...and report result here...

If you can't find Adobe Reader neither in APPS nor DOWNLOADS tabs then you need to intall it manually ... in novaterm
    1. cd /usr/palm/ipkgs
    2. ls -l com.quickoffice.ar*
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5716688 Nov 15 02:11 com.quickoffice.ar_10.3.351_ARM_release.ipk

    3. ipkg install -o /media/cryptofs/apps com.quickoffice.ar_10.3.351_ARM_release.ipk
    Begin installation of com.quickoffice.ar
    Installing com.quickoffice.ar (10.3.351) to root...
    Configuring com.quickoffice.ar

Either I have done something wrong or something is going wrong.

    root@HPTouchPad:/var/home/root# cd /usr/palm/ipgks
    /bin/sh: cd: can't cd to /usr/palm/ipgks

Is what i get, Could I just use internalz to get the ipk and install that way?

    Sorry....looks like typo from me:
    "ipkgs" (vs ipgks)

    gah..

    root@HPTouchPad:/usr/palm/ipkgs# ipkg install -o /media/cryptofs/apps com.quicko
    ffice.ar_10.3.351_ARM_release.ipk
Not downgrading package com.quickoffice.ar on root from 10.3.406 to 10.3.351.
    Nothing to be done

I think I should just doctor the device unless you have any more ideas?

    a) you can force downgrade
    ipkg install -o /media/cryptofs/apps -force-downgrade com.quickoffice.ar_10.3.351_ARM_release.ipk

    ... or ...

    b) you can uninstall 10.3.406 ...
    ipkg remove com.quickoffice.ar

Ah okay got it working now thank you

So I take it I just do not update the app?

    Glad it works now ...
... now when you know how to get it working after something gets broken ... feel free to update - to official 10.3.406 first ... then try patched version if you want...

... in the worst case you will need to re-install 10.3.351 (or whatever will be included in /usr/palm/ipkgs) again
