Why do I only see 517 out of the 1000 webOS apps
designed "specifically for Touchpads" in the HP App Catalog?

Where did the other 483 apps go? Or do those 483 apps
prefer to remain anonymous about having been designed
    specifically for Touchpads?

That is a VERY good question!

because webos is also for phones. ie. the pre

being designed specifically for the touchpad means they are making use of its size and hd abilities.

ever download an app, and it looks small, in the center of the screen.... you know... like the shape of a phone....

    that's why...

it was designed for the phone..

there are apps designed for the phone.
there are apps designed for the touchpad.
and apps designed for neither in particular, or for both.

that number specifically does not include the emulator sized apps.

"1000 webOS apps specifically for the HP TouchPad" is what HP said...

Search the App Catalog for "Touchpad"

Maybe apps in other regions that don't show in US catalog?

This is a good question. I've been wondering the same thing.

if there are indedd 1000+ apps designed specifically for Touchpads as HP claims,
why don't they add a new category on the left of the the HP App Catalog? It will
make it a lot easeir for folks who are only interested in getting Touchpad-specific
    apps. c

using the touchpad search it appears that 105 of those 517 specifically for the touchpad are the essentially the same app "Petit fute". I hadn't noticed that before.

I can't say I've looked that deep into the app catalog but is it true that the Aussie app catalog only contains a fraction of the US one?

I certainly don't see Need For Speed, for example.

If this is by design then it surely is a p-take to Aussies who bought the TP? Particularly if they paid top dollar.

I have an open mind and am willing to be proven wrong ...

HP has opened itself up for a false advertising claim. Last I read HP says "thousands of apps designed for the touchpad". Thousands, plural. They also say that they "approve" all apps listed in the app catalog that say "for touchpad" next to them. So, if you are like my cube mate, and bought a few apps that say "for touchpad" that don't work, and you call HP and HP says that they won't refund your money because they didn't write the app themselves....point out to them their quote and demand your money back.

What money back? Do you mean I should demand to get the $84 back?
($84 is what I paid on HP.com for my Touchpad) No, I don't want
the money back. HP just has to send me its long wooden nose.

I believe the reason is that not all touchpad apps will say Touchpad or For Touchpad after the title. It will say it above the price though. For example 'Ncognito doesn't say for touchpad after the title, so it wouldn't be in the search if you type in touchpad. Communities, Music Player remix, Advanced Browser, mousepad, etc. Just look in the New section of the app catalog and you'll see lots of apps without the For Touchpad in the title and some do, but all touchpad specific apps will say for touchpad above the price section.

Most of the HD apps are for the TouchPad also. A month ago I praised HP for even including "for TouchPad" on their tablet apps. Android doesn't do that. However, after finding out that close to half of the apps that are made to run on the TouchPad don't have the "for TouchPad" label, I take that praise back. HP needs to fix this.

Your right, but maybe the developers of the apps can help out with that a little better, by adding it in.

I would imagine Alan Hawk meant getting the app money back.

I have to say the whole app catalog process does not encourage me to buy anything, if I'm being brutally frank.
