Hi everyone!
I've cooked up a simple free app to extract ZIP archives on the Pre/Touchpad. I am planning to submit it to the app catalog, but want to betatest first. This version would work until October 3, 2011. http://ryhor.com/bs/de.tamspalm.tractor_0.9.9_all.ipk Thanks to everybody! Waiting for replies.

Archive search is carried out by Palm standard component FilePicker, maybe you should reboot.
Waiting for more replies. If problem persists, will investigate!

Thanks, file picker is fast after reboot, but doesn't find all zip files in /media/internal, apparently just those in "saverestore". Using Xecutah, Xterm and Optware zip I just created a zip file "Notes.zip" from a directory "Notes" and moved it to /media/internal but the picker didn't find it, so no unzipping yet. (Optware unzip works.;k

I think it's still more of a picker/media indexer problem. The way i tried it was: download ZIP from the web, unzip it using tractor. But still thanks for your input!

I know many people contemplating the switch to Android specified the lack of support for RAR files. Using the RarLab freeware binary in Tractor would definitely help save the cause. See WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files for more info.

Just install optware bootstrap and advanced linux command line installer (it has conflicts so just install when you need it then remove it after), then do "ipkg-opt update" (removing the double quotes of course) "ipkg-opt list" to see what's available and specifically "ipkg-opt install unrar" to get unrar Then as mentioned above, remove the advanced linux command line installer package but keep optware bootstrap. There are MANY packages available, including: unrar - 3.9.8-1 - unrar is an application that can decompress files and archives created using the RAR compression scheme unzip - 6.0-2 - A (de)compression library for the ZIP format |

Depends on where ya get it from 9as I think there's a few unrar variants out there. If you compile it yourself from the source, then I think RarLabs only restricts reverse engineering of the rar algorithm for compression utilities. I'm using it currently in ComicShelf, ComicShelf HD, and my upcoming ArchiveXtractor app.
