If you haven't used it, trust me, it's amazing (both the Mac and iOS versions). I'd peg it midway between Word and InDesign.

It's a shame that, so far as I can tell, webOS is yet to boast even the most basic of word processors. In my two days with my TouchPad, this is the most glaring omission.

I would love to make such a contribution, if I can.

If you do it right and this whole webOS thing doesn't turn into a black hole you would make a lot of friends and some money!

the problem is basically HP not makign any entry apps at all, they released the device, and expected home programmers to fill in the holes for them, only as the devs got started the smelly stuff hit the fan not even 2 months after launch.

There wasnt really the time for joe random home programmer to fill the void before HP pulled the plug virtually instantly.

Picsel told me it was a very quick, buggy port to show feasibility.

On twitter, of course, just after the announcement. But as this debacle has happened like it has, who knows if things have changed since that tweet.

Contacted them by the ticket support center, responded less than a minute later. Looks like they have a general reply for this, but, if you're interested, they're exploring options:

    Dear Alexander,

Thank you for contacting Quickoffice Customer Care.

We'll let you know our plans for Quickoffice editing release for TouchPad as soon as we get any feedback from our developers and product managers.
We'll get in touch with you shortly.

Thank you and have a wonderful day,
    Valentin

I'll let you know what's up when they respond back.

I like TapNote, which syncs with a Dropbox folder. It's just a .txt file editor, but helps me get content into a file and then onto a PC so I can cut and paste it into a more polished format. I use it on my phone, even, to take notes in a meeting or such.

i was until my 603e/040 setup broke (fair few bits died over time) then my picasso-IV gfx card died (still got a cybervision 64/3d but prefer the picasso) and didnt have good old eyetech to get parts to get it all runnign again and had nothign but nightmares with ebay.

and yeah waiting for the X1000 and the newly pimped AmigaOS 4.2 now the fiasco with resurected commodore usa interfering/pushing back the projects is finally over.

How is that on topic? It's not even a tangent it has literally nothing to do with what we're discussing.

It's probably been said before, but Google Docs work just fine and Type Writer Beta is very fun to use.
  14.    #54
It's been said multiple times, but again there's no offline word processor/suite that exports to word/powerpoint.

google docs does not work fine - it works barely

sorry will take the Amiga talk to pm..though WebOS is alot like AmigaOS in that they both are amazing OS's in their own right which were mishandled by their parent companies

Is there official word on this? I've seen it mentioned "soon" but "tomorrow" is rather specific.

EDIT: Just looked it up, I guess because they said this week and it's Friday? lol

I sure hope that's not what WindyCityPre meant. He might be disappointed if it is

3 days late. Oh my god, how horrible of me. I guess I have to stop posting completely on PreCentral.

    What a bunch of *****...

And no, it wasn't my only source, but I guess it doesn't matter since I was totally wrong. I mean, 3 days is practically 3 months. I'll be sure to never share any information I receive with anyone here. Don't worry, you both certainly taught me to know better.
