Included as attachment, Gash 2 frame HTML, bottom button bank, top content of the actual swf's.

Have the Touchpad-Custom-Websites folder at root or wherever, then you just run the main part by typing into your browser(s)

file:///media/internal/Touchpad-Custom-Websites/index.htm

Doesnt have to Touchpad-Custom-Websites as a folder name, and the launcher html doesnt care what this root folder is called anyways.

youll get a blank screen with buttons at the bottom, just click 1 and the games launch in the top window.

i deleted my .swf's as im not redistributing other peoples stuff, so youd have to aquire them yourself or change to other things, just browsing through the included html youll probably figure out easily how it works (badly and gash).

i only did it for a test to see if i could get a html button to launch a swf into a different frame as an exercise, wasnt meant to be something awesome/useful, im sure some1 can make somethign far better that horizontal scrolls when the buttons fill the width of the page etc.

i mostly did it as a "just to see if i can" type thing, done with notepad so not v expert im afraid, quick and ugly.

How do I know which games can be run on the Touchpad, and how do I know which swf file from decompiling an exe is the proper one to use?
How do I know which games can be run on the Touchpad, and how do I know which swf file from decompiling an exe is the proper one to use?
The "banging-rocks-together" way I used was to run each swf files in player and see which one is right one.
(All 2 of the) Flash file I tested spat out 3, 4 files with only one of it actually being the swf file I needed. I took that, renamed it, put it with the same directory as the data folder for the flash app and loaded the htm that directs to swf file.

*edit btw, if you need a flash player, googling can get you one from the tens of dozens out there and I believe simply dragging swf file into web browser with Flash Player installed can do the job too.

geekpeter 08/22/2011 08:29 PM

yep to test just double click teh swf, winblows will ask what to run it with, just pick internet explorer, thats the easyest one to run them with, it may ask in a popup if its safe to run the file, click yeah and ittl run.

but the above mentioned bash rocks till 1 works is the way to do it, as for aquiring the swf files in teh first place, some sites host them raw, can google for "index of .swf" or find a browser extension that saves them direct from sites.

Double tap the Flash part of the page to lock taps to it. Then dragging and anything else is recognized by the game.

I feel like I'm missing something here... I followed the instructions and everything seemed to be going smoothly. I installed the IPK wrapper, and that looked like it was good to go, but when I try to open it, I just get a white screen.

When I moved my machinarium folder to my Touchpad I didn't have a media folder, so I created it... was this maybe wrong? Help me please, I love this little robot! :)

The /media/internal/ folder refers to the root of your Touchpad when you plug it into the PC.

If you look at the thumbnail on my first post, for me, the Touchpad shows up as F:\ on my laptop, so the correct location is F:\machinarium\

D'oh! Thank you so much!

I find that I sometimes have trouble moving him up and down, even after I double tap the game. I was playing another flash game earlier where double tapping didn't allow me to drag either. Is there any way to lock a screen so it isn't draggable?

How do we go about looking for more games like this? What kind of keywords?

You should be able to play this one with the browser: Samorost 1

And the sequel with the same way you did for Machinarium: Samorost 2 – Amanita Design

Lemonade727 08/25/2011 10:46 PM

Anyone have an IPK I can use for Samorost 2?

deduce 08/31/2011 08:18 PM

I just installed Machinarium on my new Touchpad using jhoff80's ipk. I hide the machinarium folder from WebOS using Internalz Pro as suggested, and it works beautifully. Even has an app icon. I can't believe I was already getting stumped on the first two puzzles, even though I progressed pretty far with the Steam version.

cdoty 08/31/2011 08:59 PM
The only problem is the icon. I don't know of any way to actually choose an icon on the Touchpad, it just takes the top left corner of the screen. And despite webOS apps being HTML based, it won't work to package as an app, because Adobe didn't license Flash for developer use.
I wonder if the browser would recognize the following line in the html file:

<head><link rel="shortcut icon" href="file:///media/internal/machinarium/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /></head>

This site can generate the favicon.ico file:

feetonice 09/01/2011 02:26 AM

I apologize in advance for my confusion.

I followed a majority of instructions until I need to create the IPK file?

I extracted the .swf files, deleted with I did not need and after that I'm a bit stuck. The instructions don't make sense to me after that point. I found Jason Robitaille's IPK thing, http://forums.precentral.net/canuck-coding/237326-ipk-packager.html but I don't know how to use it?

Do I transfer the game over to the Touchpad first? Do I use the IPK first? Which location is it talking about?

What I did last night was:
(1) Prepare the Machinarium folder as described in the OP
(2) Made sure it looked like the folder shown in this post.
(3) Transfer the Machinarium folder (named "Machinarium") to my Touchpad
(4) From my Touchpad, access this thread and click on the link in this post. This brought up a Preware card asking to install the loader. Naturally, I said "Go for it".

This put a Machinarium icon in my apps tab which was accessible like any other application. Hope this helps.

Can someone make a program that will just look into a folder on your touchpad and list and run whatever flash game file you want? I mean how many games are on the internet that you can download. Just dump a bunch in a folder and have a simple program list them and launch them? Possible? I am not a programmer.

BTW, I just found out that if you put the .swf file into a folder in box.net you can launch it right from the app. I don't know about level saving yet.

nebula24 09/01/2011 02:33 PM

awesome. Been wanting to play some interactive fiction on the touchpad but couldn't find a z interpreter that says its for webos.

Using the instructions from this thread, I tried a flash version of zork1,2,3 and while I got the keyboard entry to work it wouldn't register the enter button. Found another flash version on bbc that had flash enter button that worked but game doesn't work anymore on there site. I did wonder if its possibly to edit the 1st flash I found to make a button but I dont know flash.

So I started looking for flash based z interpreters to run off the touchpad. Just put Parchment (https://github.com/curiousdannii/parchment) on there and was able to load and play Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Only bad is save/restore doesn't work if browser is closed. You can save and restore during the same game so just don't shut the browser to you finish playing :)

I just put the Parchment folder with a games subfolder containing z5 files into the touchpad. Then typed: file:///media/internal/ParchmentIF/index.html?story=file:///media/internal/ParchmentIF/stories/hitchhik.z5 to run the game.

Might try some other flash z interpreters to see if I can get one to save/restore correctly. At least I can still play around in 1 sitting for now.

Only played a few turns so there could be other issues but so far so good.

I did everything, and when i click on the machinarium icon, it does launch but nothing more than a white screen ...

Please help, i so want to play this game <3

Jophiel 09/01/2011 03:52 PM

Are you sure your Machinarium folder looks like the one in the linked screenshot? I'm only asking because, my first try, I had deleted the 00000001.swf, 0000002.swf & 000003.swf files and had the same white screen error. I'm not saying you did the same thing but I'd check and make sure all your files are correct. And that you spelled Machinarium correctly each time :D

PitaPowa 09/01/2011 04:03 PM

Thanks for the reply :)

Hum i think it looks fine but i post a screen just to be sure ^^
