Hi, i remember i had to do some file copying and scriptrunning to make spotify work in webOS 2.1. But is it possible to make it work in 3.0? The app seems to restart continuously as fast as possible.

I'm lost without spotify, not having spotify is like being in the dark ages. Not having it yet on my wp7 phone is bad enough.

    Thanks

agree. Spotify not working is a disaster :-(

It's in the app cat. I even see it on 1.4.5 cat. Haven't dl it due to not being interested @ this point in the service.

    Hi,

I was able to get Spotify installed on a Touchpad running webOS 3.0. I had to use the same method for webOS 2.0 devices. I did this awhile back for my Palm Pre plus as I was also getting the flickery login screen and unable to get past that... This method worked for me.

    tfelgentreff's solution can be found...

    http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...webos-2-x.html

Basically download the zip file from the link, and then copy those files to the following directories using something like Internalz Pro

    /var/palm/system-services/com.spotify.palmserver.service
    /var/palm/ls2/roles/pub/com.spotify.palmserver.json
    /var/palm/ls2/roles/com.spotify.palmserver.json
    /var/palm/ls2/roles/prv/com.spotify.palmserver.json

    /media/cryptofs/apps/usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.spotify/resources/com.spotify.palmserver.service

Restart and you should be good to go!

The official app is supposed to be here any day now... but hopefully you can live with this work around for now

    I know I'm excited!!

they are building a touchpad app for sure? I'll pay for the service if they do!

the zip does not appear to have an ipk, I take it one is not needed with this method.

    Correct?

whoops!... looks like wishful thinking on my part... I can see now that HP was only referring to the US webos app, which I believe is out already?

"HPs Richard Kerris sent a tweet today indicating HP is currently working on the U.S. version of the webOS app, so we should see it pop in the app catalog any day now."

Spotify Launches in the U.S., webOS Version Reportedly Ready | News |webOSroundup

Maybe more wishful thinking... but there's supposed to be more apps released with the next OTA update??... :S

No, this is assuming you already have the .ipk installed

Not sure if this would work on the Touchpad, but you could try using Impostah or DummyMaker if you're unable to find it in the catalog. Once installed just update it with the software manager.

    com.palm.app.spotify

And then if you're having issues logging in you could try the steps from the link I posted.

This is from the front page of P/C, don't know if it helps.

I don't know why the link has that title, but it is to an article about Spotify on Precentral.

try m.spotify.com - I've got a Pre2 and selected Pre Plus. Works great!

Its working great on my pre2! I am wondering about the hype though. The pay version seems like an improved version of Napster or Rhapsody. Are there some particularly good features that separate from the others?

The improvement for me is that,, unlike Rhapsody, it actually works and streams music. Rhapsody never worked on the pre - to my knowledge.

so, is this supposed to be in the catalog for TouchPads yet? Searched but have not found, Spotify is a must have app for me on the TP, love it on my other device and the 10 per month for full service is well worth it!

Yah, I tried Rhapsody for a week on an android phone, wasn't impressed. Used Napster for several years but ditched it last week. Just wondered about Spotify's standout features.

I do have a dummy .ipk and would love to help you guys out... buuut

can anyone tell me what the rules are for posting something like an .ipk on precentral?

It's a free app and Impostah and Dummymaker pretty much do the same thing... so I would think it would be OK??

Those other methods just don't seem to be working on the Touchpad quite yet.

I think it was created with IPKFetcher when it used to work.

    thanks,

    - Dan

maybe it's not alright??... Where's Rod when you need him?!!

I have Spotify on my Touchpad. Works great. I'll see if I can post some detailed instructions and files (if permitted) later today.
