    For me?
    1) VLC/Mplayer/Etc
    2) Remote Desktop(logmein preferable, but plain jane vlc will work for me)
    3) wIRC

Now, if I don't get these I may have to go out and purchase a new axe to replace the one that will be... soiled. Not a threat, a promise.
It wasn't me officer, I swear.

The BBC News website is a hundred thousand times superior to their iPad app.

    For me:
    Twitter
    Skype and IM
A good RRS reader like Pulse
A lecture notes app (like Coursenotes on the iPad)

Other than two or three word games, these are the only apps I use on my iPad. The majority of my time is spent in the web browser. A tabbed browser would be nice.

A few people have said logmein.

    Doesn't logmein have a web-based flash version?

Lots of good ideas in there.

GUITAR PRO 6 WOULD BE AWESOME!

I have Guitar Pro 5 on my PC and having a 24"WS is great, but it limits me to playing overtop of my desk while I'm using it. To have that program on a tablet, be able to put the tablet on a music stand at eye level would be phenom, and would reduce the need for such a big screen.
Due to the cancellation of the penny, I no longer give 2 about anything. I may however, give a nickel

Does anyone find it odd that there is no central and definitive list of apps that are available for the TouchPad at launch? (Unless I am completely missing something???). The pre-order date is just days away. I certainly wouldn't pre-order this not knowing what it can do. I know what WebOS can do, but the apps allow you to use it to the full potential. I also think it is a bad idea to not have a release date and carrier announcement for the Pre3. The interaction of those devices is a great selling point but if you don't even know if the Pre3 is coming to your carrier, then who cares?

For me a tablet device is going to replace a netbook. I know an iPad is fully capable of doing that, but if the TouchPad has the right apps, I would rather have that OS.

I've been thinking the same thing.

The only logical assumption, to me, is that they honestly don't know yet which apps will make launch, and they can't very well start a marketing blitz on apps that may not make launch.

I still find it interesting we're only weeks away and no announcements. Actually, Android only has about 100 tablet apps and everything else is phone specific or simply crap on larger screens. I'm hoping HP has some great options lined up. Sorli...

some people think you only need certain apps. But i think you need as many apps as possible to appeal to the most people because people all want different thing. As an illustration i went through three of the four pages in this thread and made a list of everything some said was a "must have app"

i got sick of doing it so i skipped page 3. i tried to eliminate some duplicates. This list tells me that everyone needs something different. That HP needs variety. That you can't say we'll just have these few app. because there is a lot more then just twitter and netflix that people must have. If you're curious this is the list minus page 3 of Must have apps so far.

Clearly having a robust catalog that covers the variety in that list of must haves is a extremely important. Especially if you want to be Number one plus.
You come at the king. You best not miss.
