After a long year and a little help from my P|C friends, I got Spanglish done-ish. What is it? It is a free and open source Spanish-English and English-Spanish translator.

I know what you are thinking, "Oh man, not another translator."
Sorry I didn't bring you Netflix BUT This does include:

    *Just Type integration
    *Word definitions E-S and S-E
    *Phrase translation E-S and S-E
    *Word of the day

    Web Beta feed at
https://developer.palm.com/appredire....app.spanglish --> it looks like this is still being reviewed by HP. Hit up sourceforge for now if you want it

    Source code and IPK at
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/spanglish

This is based off of the old Habla! app by Khalid Draper. Unfortunately I was not able to reach Khalid and so this is released as a separate app but I have noted in the source where I apply code from his previous efforts. I welcome community involvement on this open source project.

Take a look. It still has some bugs including cleaning up the listeners properly so anybody who can help, please lend me a hand :-) Please note that this runs fine on 1.4.5 but due to app catalog restrictions, you may not see the web feed if you are not 2.0+

Could really use some 2.x users to test this since I only tested it in the emulator. also if Anybody can help squash bugs, man I'd be SUPER delighted

Great. Let me know what bugs you find. Currently I know the spinners do not like to spin and it doesn't like to cleanup two listeners for some reason.

It uses the internet. I know. that blows. However, through some other posts on this page I managed to get some basic offline dictionaries but nowhere near as good. The irony is you probably would want to use this in a foreign country where, presumably, you do not have internet access. - I understand. Since this is open source I am hoping someone will pick it up and smoosh in an offline dictionary too.

    Spanglish updated to version 0.1.1
Please visit https://sourceforge.net/projects/spanglish/files/ for the most up-to-date files.

https://developer.palm.com/appredire....app.spanglish is still at 0.1.0, so wait for a day or so for that update to make it to the beta feeds if you don't like to sideload.
