Finally a proper satnav for webos.. ??
    Yes please...

Since neither Navit nor O2 Telenav work on my german t-mobile pre2 I need a nav solution. Please release it soon!

I guess that is NDrive 11? And perhaps the webOS version will be released at the same time as all the other phone versions?

Looks cool wish it was in USA, also looks to be running on a 2.x device so may only work on 2.x devices.

Here the bad news from twitter:
"NDrive: All webOS fans: we have our SW ready for webOS 2.0 SDK, but the AppCatalog allows only 1.4. As soon as the store is 2.0 we will be there"
Twitter / NDrive Nav. Systems: All webOS fans: we have ou ...

Many items of bad news for me. In USA, Verizon (lousy GPS options), and 2.x only (I'm using a Pre Plus on contract...).

does this use the phone's gps? I don't understand how it would continue to work if you don't have service....?

Yes, it uses the phone's GPS. But I believe it has OFFLINE maps, which would explain why it is not for the USA, and would still allow usage without service.

How does that explain "not for the USA"? I know that Navit has maps via open sources for the USA.

If they didn't have maps for the USA, then it would explain it. Keep in mind that map data isn't just some standard format that every app understands. nDrive decides what map sources they want to include. They make their money off the maps, not the app (similar to how Apple makes their money from app and music sales, not device sales)

But also, after checking their site, you DO buy maps from them, for offline use, and they DO have them for North America (USA, Canada).

Also, keep in mind that the cost is quite high (comparable to the cost of a low-end dedicated GPS transceiver in the USA). About 60eur IIRC (which is about $80 USD)

Yikes and Yikes. So what is the reason they don't sell it here? Available 2.x units to market to?

My guess is that they cant do 2.X due to the same WEBOS bug that NAVIT has found. This wait for a 2.X upgrade seems forever.

    1.4, not even 145. There's a w2 AppCat.
Why can't they release it there?
As a developer, I can answer this for you: Palm has not yet added 2.0.0 as a minimum webOS version option for us to select. This is why you see some apps that require 2.x in the 1.4.5 Catalog. I had Voice Memos in there until I found out that old devices wouldn't get 2.x (only reason I even added Voice Memos into there (1.4.5 Catalog) was because Palm told us to do so)

Any progress yet? The 2.x Catalog (ROW) has now been available for a week, so why can't nDrive post their available Navigator?

I must say I was fortunate enough to get the NDrive for a ride.
This navigation application is awesome!!! First class!

Can compete against any other navigation system out there from every platform. And definitely the best system for webOS.

With foursquare and facebook integration, google search for locations alternative routes according to real time traffic information and of course offline maps.

I can assure you, from what I hear, that NDrive for webOS is coming very soon with worldwide maps, multilingual support and even bidirectional languages support.

    see some screen captures...

Is this only going to be a 2.x application? I'd REALLY love this for my pixi! I hate driving around and ending up in an area that doesn't have a good 3g connection (which is just a few miles outside where i live!) so I can't get on google maps. I've got navit, but that is flaky at best on the pixi.

EDIT: I KNOW that they've said it's ready with the 2.0 sdk, but I'm wondering if they'd consider developing it for 1.4.5!

ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't this be available now?
