I was wondering if is possible for one of the devs to release an Office Communicator (only) patch. I know we have some release that has a bunch of messenger patches grouped (including Communicator) but I'm interested to have only this option added, not the hole shebang.

If you know there is such .ipk released, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Search for the messaging plugins, you should install the sysfiles, the patch, and if you like, the Office Communicator plugin can be installed standalone, but you'll install the three files.

    Google talk should remain unchanged

As specified into OP, that is what I try to avoid... installing any extra files.

mmm... no, It doesn't exist then, sorry
There are only two ways to have Office Communicator on the Pre:

    1. Using Greg's files (sysfiles, patch and plugin)
    2. Using the browser (we do have webmessenger.xxxxxxxx.com)

    Sorry

    The thread is here:
    http://forums.precentral.net/homebre...-your-pre.html

The files are in this zip
    http://users.tpg.com.au/gregroll//Me...0-Palm-Pre.zip

You Must uninstall any messaging related patch to avoid problems.

Use webOS Quick Install to install it, you'll install the "sysfiles", "patch", and "office communicator" ipk files.

Good Luck, and should you have trouble, drop by the thread

wouldn't you also need to be on a vpn or behind the company firewall for this to work?

Depending on the configuration of your servers, in my case I can access the server even if I'm not on a VPN.

The thing here is, if you can access your Office Communicator servers from outside your network, chances are that you will be able to access it on your phone

Curiously enough, Greg's server has some sort of fuzzy logic, if you click the url to version 2.4.0 (which is on the first page of the messaging plugins thread), you will get whatever version is there, so, even if you click the link to 2.4.0 (also linked on this thread), you'll get 2.5.0

My work's server is accessible on the web (outside of firewall) by going to https://im.xxxx.com I installed the 2.5 patches and all appears to be installed correctly. When I enter username, domain\username, server address and password it still will not connect. The only part I am unsure of is the field called "user agent". What goes there?

Anyone here familiar with Office Communicator and how to setup for internet connection? Specifically looking for what to enter in the "User Agent" field.
