If you are developing an app focused on reading, be that a single source thing like the NYTimes app, be that an RSS reader like NewsRoom, or be that anything else along those lines, please consider the following.

FLICKING THE SCREEN IS NOT AN EFFICIENT WAY TO SCROLL THROUGH AN ARTICLE.

Here are three reasons:
1. It is very easy to accidentally tap a link, which results in the user navigating away from what they're reading.

2. It is rather difficult to flick exactly one screen at a time, making it difficult for the reader to keep their place as the screen scrolls.

3. Requiring the user to place their thumb or finger over the thing they're trying to read while they read it is just plain dumb.

For the love of all things mighty and meek, please come up with ways to advance the screen without flicking. Use the gesture area, use the keyboard, use the volume rocker, use ANYTHING OTHER THAN FLICKING THE SCREEN.

This concludes my rant. Thank you for your time.
