from webos internals via a quick google search

3b) To Install Pre Apps Using PuTTY(Wifi)
Gain root access to your Pre (instruction here Portal:Accessing_Linux)
Open a PuTTY terminal to your Pre (instruction here Putty)
Type "sudo /usr/bin/ipkg -o /var install URL" (where 'URL' is the url of the .ipk you want to install)
Reboot Pre or Luna using "reboot" or "pkill LunaSysMgr" or "sudo luna-send -n 1 palm://com.palm.applicationManager/rescan {}"
    SCK Manager

I wonder why up till now no 3rd party app can make this ipk installer easier.

somewhat like ASTRO on android.. We just need to put apk file on device, then double click it to install.

I hope genius from Precentral can make this one essential app for us

I have used filecoaster in the past. You would have to post the ipk on a web page thought, then enter the url in filecoaster.
