Just got a heads up that Pogoplug is nearing completion for the Pre.

This should enable a Pre (and presumably a Pixi) to mount an external drive over the air (EVDO on Sprint). The drive is attached to your home computer. These should give us unlimited music, photo, backup, and doc storage. It won't be as fast as local storage, but it will be in the security of your home and be as big as your external hard drive. The advantage is that it will be available anywhere you have 3G.

It also gives you access to this drive thru a web browser on a PC or a Mac.

I've been waiting for this for a long time. I can't hardly wait!

Looks like the price went up a bit.

The Pogoplug box is $129. You supply an external USB hard drive.

Is this something you have heard from the makers themselves?
Is this a pogoplug specifically for the pre or just a new one that happened to be able to work with the pre in addition to other phones and/or devices?

    It's here!

    Looks awesome!

    Further testing to come.

This product needs a Precentral front page review, immediately!

I would love a review and I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to people who don't own a Pogoplug yet and would be interested in seeing it work on Video or otherwise.

Thanks, Pogoplug and keep up the great work. Sorli...

Humm, I tried an experiment. I copied my entire iTunes music library to my Pogoplug drive. The amounts to 68 GB of music and some videos.

Just for good measure I, deleted all my synced music with Missing Sync (Mac version). I wanted to make sure that nothing, not even album art was being picked up from the /media drive on my Pre.

I'm running EVDO on Sprint. I haven't tried Wi-Fi yet.

I have access to over 1000 songs on my external drive.

Its picking up the album art. Takes around 10 secs to start a song.

I have not had any luck with streaming videos, yet.

    jpegs load nicely.

All the music pictures and videos have players built-in to the Pogoplug app on the Pre.

The controls for the built-in players are a bit rudimentary.

    Pretty darn good for v1.0.1!

I would be all over pogoplug if they would make it a software platform, instead of making me buy a piece of hardware. I have about 400GB of files on an internal drive that I'd love to stream, but I'm not taking that hard drive out of the box and moving it to USB just to use pogoplug.
