change the icon.png file in the application directory.

If you have enabled linux access on your pre, you can just copy a new icon.png file into there.

    Icons are 64x64 pixels,

Same way, just change the connection type.

Good question. I was wondering this too. Do you need to ROOT your pre to be able to do this? Do I simply plug my pre in as USB mode and find the folder with the icon in it and replace it with a new .png icon that is size 64x64? Or am I missing something? Thanks.

this will require linux access. You can not do this from the usb without obtaining linux access. the usb mounted as a drive only accesses the /media/internal folder, and can not get at the directories where the apps are stored.

It -would- be possible to write a -change-the-app-icon- app. it would not be trivial.
