That said, I will be deleting this POS but not because of God adverts.
OK, I don't remember from day one, but I thought it was an application I installed from the application store. Perhaps maybe Palm should have a disclaimer inside the description of the application at the store that says advertising supported or something like that.

Then again, we do have the ability to simply delete that which we find offensive, crappy, or otherwise just don't want.

Your phone came pre-loaded with the accuweather app? I had to d/l mine from the app catalog.

I agree. I still think it may be a hack job. I am most bothered by the "low brow" quality more than the subject matter.

I am an actor and I have done more than 40 commercials. I have even done religious and political ads as an actor so I get the concept of free advertising and I am all for it. In this case though, it seems odd. Perhaps if the link took you to say a reputable .org it wouldn't seem so weird to me.

But seriously. Have you clicked the link? If it were a coke ad and took me to say coke.com then that's at least a reputable link. This "god" link takes you to some weird document style web page that for all I know was written by my dog. Seems out of place to me and again it lacks credibility IMHO.
There it is. I think you've cracked the case. It was written by a dyslexic, self-promoting, life-saving dog.

No but I wouldn't have been able to download that free app if I didn't BUY my new Pre phone so technically it wasn't free. But I get your point and yes it is a "free" app.

Hey I had trouble with that app also. I posted something a while back...too lazy to be looking for it. But basically I accidentally click on the advertising link and I had a bunch of cards opening, it was all blank white cards though. I had to keep on closing it a bunch of times. I thought I accidentally clicked on some porno site.

    That'd be YOU.

Accuweather is a 3rd party app. Accuweather pays for the cost of development and upkeep for the app with ads streamed into it. Apparently a religious group bought some advertising time.

I would suggest that if you don't like it, uninstall the app.

Read the whole thread and you may disagree with your own post. I believe it's a hack job.

Because God finally found a smartphone HE likes?

FWIW, the parent organization for MarriageAndGod.mobi (the advertiser) is Campus Crusade for Christ. This MarriageAndGod.mobi site is just one of many outreaches they have. Like all businesses, they are trying new and different things to achieve greater market share and to bring in new customers.

I'm sure an iPhone ad will inadvertently make its way to a PrPrPr&#$275$; $screen$ $soon$ $enough$

Thanks for the clarification but it still seems "low brow" to me. Perhaps they should link to a nice web page that clearly states who they are instead of some text that appears dodgy.

Your iphone comment was the funniest thing I have yet read on this forum!!!

    Now that is funny

It is a free app and it is only there for a second before it goes away. It is the same thing on Facebook or MySpace where there are always ads everywhere. If you don't like them, you don't click on them. At least this ad goes away in a second and then you have the app. My two cents worth.

Except it's not SPAM. It's an advertisement on an app that you don't have to paid for. Advertising - that's how they make their money.

This is the USA and unfortunately, much like the rest of the world, most of the populace can't think for themselves. They need god to tell them what to do. Must be nice to give up control of your life to a cartoon character.

So the question really is....how come it took this long for god to show up on your phone?

Accuweather should give equal time to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
It may seem like I am doing nothing, but on a cellular level I'm really quite busy.

Okay. I am going to stop posting in my own thread now. Even if I agree with you, I would like to avoid this argument in a Tech forum. Perhaps we should close this thread before it gets out of hand. My apologies for bringing it up.

That said, an advert for coke wouldn't result in a post like the one above...
