I use Handbrake and Mactheripper to rip DVD's. I have quite an extensive library that I encoded using all the iPod Touch presets.

Apparently, since the Pre and iPod Touch/iPhone have the same screen resolution they all work perfect. In fact all my rips that I imported into iTunes sync right to the Pre and I no longer need my iPod anymore.

Way to go Palm, you are really accommodating the user with thoughtful engineering. I'm glad to be a customer.

using ubuntu here, handbrake with the "iphone & ipod touch" setting on the right works perfect

actually, the reason why it works has nothing to do with the resolution, it has everything to do with the fact that the Pre supports h.264/quicktime video and AAC audio.
