Funny, I have the Fuze (TouchPro) and have bought many books from eReader.com. The problem you're writing above used to happen to me all the time and still does on occasino on the Pro. I thought it was just me, but now I think it may be a basic fault of their reader, regardless of OS. Needless to say, I do like their site and really can't wait until it's out for the Pre. I've got some books I'm looking forward to reading (and not using Classic).

And lets hope eReader is in the soon to come Pre catalog (I hope).

Some posters have mentioned Mobipocket so just wanted to give fair warning - it's been over a year and there has yet to be an iPhone app. The general consensus is that Amazon isn't allowing it to be released, and development seems to have halted on other platforms as well. So I wouldn't count on it ever being ported to the Pre, unlike eReader.

At least there's the option of running the app through Classic which is a nice bonus of the Pre. But I'd think long and hard before purchasing any Mobi DRM'd books at this point (I'm extremely grateful I mostly went with eReader back on the Palm TX).

Any news on when eReader will be available?

In the meantime, shortcovers sales new books & will get you by. It doesn't automatic bookmark, but you can bookmark & load multiple books.

Er...I haven't tried this yet, but the Pre has a native doc reader no? There is a site I use heavily for ebooks memoware.com that provides 1000's of ebooks in serveral formats per book once of which is DOC format. Should be as simple as copying them over to the Pre.

(I always used Palm's Reader and all my old ebooks are in Palm reader format. I may have "Art of War" in doc and I'll try that.

DOC format is for PalmDocs, which is different that Microsoft Word's "doc" format. The Pre's reader is for the latter of the two.

You might like to keep up with EBook-Reader - WebOS Internals. No usable reader yet but the proposed layout looks good.

Any word on an ePub reader that's open for the Pre? I get a lot of eBooks from the library, and though Shortcovers says it can read ePub format books, it doesn't like ones that aren't from its own site... I was using Mobipocket in Classic, but the newer books at the library seem to all be in ePub format...

I think now that the best choice is to convert some format as ePub to format supported by pReader (http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-apps/preader)
There is a tool to convert them : calibre - E-book management (format supported : Frequently Asked Questions — calibre User Manual )
Calibre is open source software and works on Ms Windows, Linux distro and MacOS X.

pReader now supports DRM management of eReader. All of my ebooks I've purchased from eReader.com now work on my Pre. It's free in the App catalog. You do have to unlock each one but I'm just glad they work!
