I just received this stand from Amazon:
Amazon.com: Arkon Portable Fold-Up Stand for Apple iPad, Galaxy Tab, Playbook, Xoom, HP, Toshiba, Acer, Nook and Other Tablets (IPM-TAB1): Electronics

    I'm quite pleased with it.

Here it is next to the TouchPad and some other things for scale:

    And height:

It can hold the Touchpad at numerous angles for comics:

    Word processing:

    And movies:

Here are a few shots of it from behind, holding up the TouchPad in different ways:

It's very sturdy, folds up reasonably small, and is fairly light weight.

If you like to prop up the TouchPad in it's portrait orientation this is a pretty solid solution. I like to read while eating myself, and this seems like just the ticket.

Update: It weighs 84 grams, which is well less than my phone or wallet, a bit more than a pair of scissors I had lying around nearby.

I bought one of these recently at Fry's, a little more expensive but the small footprint is nice.

I looked at that one, but it seemed likely that it was heavy. It also appears that it might not lean all the way back into my preferred portrait-comics-position:

    Can you confirm these suspicions?

I'll go weigh the Akron stand and update my initial post.

By the by, I also played with one of these, which we had floating around work:
Amazon.com: HDE Adjustable Stand compatible with AppleŽ iPadTM/ iPad 2TM: Electronics
(Sometimes it's nice working at a mobile app development company!)

It weighs 274 grams (almost three times heavier!), is larger, and holds the TouchPad less securely. All I can really say for it is that it's kind of neat looking.

I am totally buying this it will be much better than buying a portfolio case, which honestly I like none of the cases available at the moment.

I loved this little stand! I had one but gave it to the guy that bought my xoom.

You eat yourself? That's a weird habit.

The stand is an interesting option if I can't find an HP Folio for a good price.

I just bought that one yesterday, and should be here on Friday. I like the super sleek look, and I expect that it'll fit in the sleeve I just bought pretty nicely.

That looks pretty nice. I might consider giving that one a shot.

They had the same thing in an aluminum finish for less than 10 bucks if cost is a concern.

Does this stand securely hold the TP? And how much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking? Hopefully not $30.

I don't suppose I could convince you to weigh it on a postal scale when it arrives, could I? I'd love to know. If it's lighter than my current solution, I want one!

I'd also be glad to hear your review of it if you'd be willing to share.
