They couldn't sell me a TouchPad though the screens will be protected when they finally do. See attachment.

this is cool but weird as my walmart closest to me has only ipads for sale but has the covers and cases for the major (acer, ipad, xoom) devices. I live in a town of 7 million
In a world of droid, Pre does it better.

Shouldn't we treat this world like the Garden of Eden and avoid the apple at all costs?

Yeah, the Walmart near me has those too. I keep hoping I will catch a newbie back there that will sell me one of their Touchpads....

Has anyone emailed any other companies (phantom, IS, etc...) if they're going to have screen protectors? I'd really like to have a phantomskinz for when I get my TouchPad.

Thye used to wait until a customer came into the main office in Utah with a device. They then pay them (via screen protectors) to build it off of the new device.

Here's my email and response from PhantomSkinz:

Comments or Questions: The new HP TouchPad is set to release on July 1st, I
was wondering if you had any plans to make a screen protector for it?

Also, if you had any plans to make a screen protector for the Pre 3 and new
    Slab as well?

    Josh,

We will definitely be drawing designs for the HP TouchPad and the Palm Pre
    3. However, we are not quite sure about the slab yet, we believe it will be
quite a while before the actual device is released. Would you like to be
sent emails when the other two items are release?

    Thank you for choosing PhantomSkinz!

The TouchPad has a gorilla glass screen with oleophobic coating, so I would not suggest the need for a screen protector unless the person was interested in anti-glare. Personally I wouldn't waste the money, especially if you use a case.

Gorilla Glass helps for sure with the scratches, but it is not scratch proof. I would expect that with a slab that will likey go into a case or computer bag, you would want something to prevent debris from said case/bag from scratching it.

Also, oleophobic screens hate oils, but that doesn't mean that they are impervious to them.

All true, but the case I meant was the $50 TP case, so when you use that and then slip it into another travel bag the screen would still be protected from the other contents.

If the owner feels better by having it on their device then by all means get one simply for peace of mind. But for me its not worth the money and loose the advantages of the coating.

Also, I have had a case on the back of my phones before and while it protects it from drops and falls, dust gets in their and scratches the heck out of it anyway. I hate scratches on my electronics as much as I hate scratches on my car.

I like the cover on the ipad, 4 or 5 hinged sections, magnetically attached when it covers the screen, prevents having to actually stuff the ipad into a case.

Has anyone seen this sort of protector for the touchpad?
    Sprint since 01/06/99: Sanyo SCP-4500 -> Audiovox PPC-6700 -> Palm Treo 755p -> Palm Centro -> Palm Pre 1.4.5 -> Jailbroken iPhone 4s

The only problem with that case is that it leaves smudge lines across those "hinges". Not entirely well thought out as Apple would like everyone to believe. Also, no protection on the back.

The TouchPad is going to show damage better than any other tablet out there, so invisible shield/phantom/etc. on at least the back seems like a good idea.

I contacted PhantomSkinz last week (while ordering one for my Pre 2) and they plan to make one for the TP. They will be emailing me when it is ready. I had pre-ordered a Skinomi, but have NO idea when it will arrive. Just contact PhantomSkinz--I am sure they will contact you too.
