Hi, I have an at&t pre plus phone and a touchstone. I thought the touchstone was defect, because it did not charge my and my friends at&t pre plus(brand new phones). I later sent it to be repaired in England, but they did just do a "software reset" on it, and it passed all tests. But it won't charge my phone. I have a cheap multimeter that do support both AC(voltage) and DC(A and v), my question is: Is it possible to test the touchstone with my multimeter? Or is there some kind of inteligent communication between my phone and the back cover, before the induction starts? And is the the power AC or DC from the back cover(does the back cover convert it to DC?)?

    Thank you

Post relates to: Pre Plus p100una (AT&T)

EDIT: The multimeter did not mesure any dc amps or dc voltage between the two gold squares on the back cover when positioned on the touchstone.

or even the back cover they should just be replaced as well

let me put it this way , if the cable charges the phone and then the touchstone wont charge i would bet on the touchstone itself is faulty not the back cover because the back cover only has magnets in it and thats how the energy is transfered.

The magnets is only used to keep the phone in place. The inductors is only wire in circles. And in the touchstone, AC is sent trough the wires.

But palm has already "repaired" it. I had to pay 30$ in custums to get it fixed.

It is a OEM cable, it charges the pre. Standard palm wall charger with standard cable. And it is not a user mistake.

THE TOUCHSTONE IS NOT GOOD have it replaced. If you ask them to repair theback cover they will repair it even if it is not broken , and charge you for it.
