As discussed in Synergy Messaging Plugins (WebOS 2.X) I've been working on a new implementation of the Messaging plugins for the Touchpad. This post is the first release milestone (TADA). It adds account templates for ICQ, MSN, Facebook, generic Jabber, Groupwise and Yahoo.
Don't expect this program to not eat your head. I give absolutely no warranties whatsoever (besides saying that I still have my head and it works for me). Updates: Fixed a few bugs (I guess), modified the build system and linking against libmojodb statically, which should make this work on all webOS 2 or greater devices There are some quirks left that I intend to fix, although I'd really appreciate patches for this: - Localisation is missing (need some gettext mage on this one …) - Modifying accounts has to be implemented (though that should be trivial) - The Mojo validator doesn't show error dialogs - Groupwise using SSL doesn't seem to work The sources are at https://github.com/filmor/webos-messaging The ipkg is at https://github.com/downloads/filmor/....9.4_armv7.ipk This should be compatible with all webOS devices with version >= 2. Have fun and please help ![]() If you want you can show your appreciation for this by donating ![]() https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...=NT9EDMPZT8Y6C Last edited by filmor_; 11/23/2012 at 03:51 AM. First of all big thanks!
Created an MSN account, had to use http as behind works firewall. The account validates and is created but does not show as an individual account in the messaging app? My appreciation for this far outways any initial issues :-) -- Sent from my TouchPad using Communities |

Hi!
Great work! I am facing problems with my Pre 3 (I know, I know, does not work yet, etc.. but I want to help). I uninstalled Greg "old" plugin, luna restart, instaled the new one, luna restart, tryed to create an MSN (which I hope is MSN Messenger, as in Gregs old plug-in there were 2 different ones), I get a new card in which I can do nothing, on top left I can only read "libpurple Mess...", the scene is completely white with a black bar bottom. Just a tip: there is a small HTML code line which you can use to solve this problem: <meta name='viewport' content='height=device-height' > I just do not remember in which HTL file you need to add it (I think it was in "main" - you will find info about it here in WebOsNation). I am just very anxious trying this on my Pre3 and hopefuly contribute to it to better work. |

You could try to just add the resource on account creation, by setting your username to "user@jabberserver/Resource". I could add this to the account modification (which is btw not implemented yet
), and I wanted to prettify the username dialog anyhow (s.t. you don't have to enter username@server when the server is already set as "Connect server").

Did you just use the default settings when creating the MSN account?
I created the account, it appears in the Messaging App and then when I try to connect I get an ever spinning Signing In which after some time turns to Offline. The curious thing is that during that time I managed to receive an MSN message that someone sent me. So it seems it managed to connect for a while or something. |

Looks like everything set up ok, I can see Facebook contacts. Tried sending a couple of messages, and the text boxes enter, but don't change color at all, like they are hung up. This on my home WiFi. They are supposed to change color, are they not? Or is it sent and not replied to?
