Removes launcher button from launcher bar. Allows launcher bar to hold 8 icons in landscape view. (6 in portrait)
Note on removal: when uninstalling this patch remove excess icons first or you will have to remove an excess icon then do another luna restart to get launcher bar back to normal. Note/opinion/rant on manually editing system files: If you have modified system files manually you may need to revert to the originals to install this patch. It would be easier on everyone(-ish) if people did not manually edit files, but instead created a patch of the configuration they liked so they can share it with others who might like it. And also to prevent future patches from not installing/working properly. I realize self editing may seem easier, but think about the long term maintenance of doing those edits (ie official update compatibility, patch compatibility, etc). Short answer on more icons without removing launcher button, yes. Long answer, no. The launcher button is not a button in the normal sense. It has a fixed screen location (from an origin of the lower right corner such that rotation has no affect on its location) so that if you add more icons they will be on top of the launcher button and you wont be able to click the app icon. Thus, allowing additional apps in the launcher bar without removing the launcher icon requires relocation of the launcher icon or unusable icons. The launcher button the touchpad is quite useless. Any time when you have access to the launcher button you have access to the physical "home key" that will bring up the full launcher or you have access to the swipe up from the bottom gesture. The button is redundant imo. |

It works well for me except for one major issue. The Exhibition mode does not work properly.
This is what I get with the patch and the Exhibition mode running: ![]() Its some kind of cropped window. After I removed the patch the Exhibition mode functions as normal:

I will look into it. I have never used exhibition mode on the touchpad. Guess this is as good a time as any.
update: I couldnt reproduce the exhibition error at all. Does anyone else have this problem? Last edited by kyle3om; 10/04/2011 at 09:02 PM. Reason: update |
