Is there a starting point to do simple webos programming? I understand what needs to be changed (from a file perspective) - I just have no idea how to create an app in webos (but I used to be a reasonable programmer in my youth)

All u seem to have done is make the launch bar back to its normal size...thats nothing special...

then you didn't pay any attention to the launcher, I successfully moved the text farther from the icons for a cleaner look. As per the discussion earlier.

What happens when the TP is in Portrait mode vs. landscape when you have the extra icons?

You will see only 6 quicklaunch icons (from the left side). The right icons aren't visible.

yea i would have kept it at normal settings if I didn't have a ridiculous amount of apps and games and didn't want to add more tabs and clutter the tab bar

Still a noob to TP and love the look of this setup. Once in Internalz, what folder do I need navigate to? I don't see [Main] in the list. What am I doing incorrectly?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I used your posted setup (THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WORK!) plus the relocated launcher icon, and with my own little tweak.

I don't mind the bottom-press-required on launcher bar, and I make the 2 left most icons be ones I want in landscape anyways - so rotating for that brings them back into play.

I decided to move the rows closer and eliminate 2nd line of icon-title - makes for a neater look (no crowding) and nearly every app can be clearly identified by the icon and 1st line of title. Made this happen by changing FixedIconCellHeight=97 TO =90.

One can always discover the hidden line2 if need be by pressing the icon into move-mode.

And if it really is a problem, get a copy of dg Quick Cut and use its copy feature to create exact shortcut copy - that you can name as you wish to make 1 line for you and then move the original someplace out of your way

Thanks for your work and the work that went on before and also after your work - I had originally used your setup, with a refinement to squeeze in another row - by truncating the Icon Title to one line. OK by me, but my wife wanted more "refinement" - so I took it a step or two further.

    What I ended up with:

*9x5.75 Icons, Smallest "full tap" Launch Bar, Launcher Icon just above Bar
** * * *(5.75 Icons lets you see there are more exist, so you will know to drag up)

The files changed and their revised content are listed below.

And there is an alternative if you want it:

    First parameter below:
Change "-60" to "0" to move*Launcher Icon down onto the Launcher Bar then: you can use up to 5 Icons for "normal" look/action and up to 7 if you want (over 5 in portrait mode will drop icons on the right and the last one on the right will hide the Launcher Icon, but tapping it will open the Launcher.

Files to change are in: */etc/palm/launcher3

I'm a "noob" to both my Touchpad and Pre-Central so I hope you won't mind if I ask you a few questions.

Love the look of your launcher bar with more icons and the arrow above. Did you actually write system files by creating a NEW DIR in Internalz to do this? If so, how did you name the directory and where is it in Internalz?

If you only modified the system files to achieve this look, did you save or back up the original files? If so, how? Will either method cause a problem(s) with other system files down the line?

Hope you don't mind my asking but it's the best way to learn.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response - I really appreciate it. Don't mind sharing it in the forum thread since it's the best place to learn for "noobs" like me from great members like YOU! Now I need to muster up the courage to follow your steps.

    Thanks again.
breathlessTP (thus the reason for the name)

I created a new folder with Internalz called LaunchMod, then created 2 sub folders: Originals and MyChange.

Then I copied the original folders and files to be modded into Originals (for restore if needed) and then made my changes to the true original files (in place). Then tested until the changes were as I wanted, rfining as I went along.

When all was satisfactory, to copied the changed folders / files to MyChange (so I could redo easily if any update undid my change).

All editing was done in / with Internaz - operating directly on the stock files - IN PLACE. Made for quick test after saving each change - just did a Luna Restart (via Internalz)

PS - best to post this in the forum thread rather than via PM - so all can benefit formt he Q&A.

I had never done anything like this -- until I was intrigued with this thread and decided to go for it my self.

Not to worry - just be sure you follow the upper-lower case exactly and you will be fine.
