I am following the instructions on Application:MetaDoctor - WebOS Internals and I am confused on the part that says:

If you would like Meta-Doctor to apply patches to webOS in order to add or change functionality from the factory install, open the Makefile with your favorite text editor and uncomment (remove the leading # characters from) the options you would like to use. For example, if you plan to install Ubuntu, now is the time to uncomment the EXT3FS_PARTITION_SIZE option in the Makefile and edit it per these instructions.

I am not really sure exactly how to do this. I checked the link it points to but I think it assumes you are familiar with editing makefile which I am not. Can someone simplify these instructions for someone that isn't well versed in linux.

I think I figured it out.

you can edit the makefile in notepad on your pc (should work fine). Remove the fitst character in the line of text and substitute the number of bytes you wnt in the partition - like 1gb is about 1024000.
