Wonder how hard it would be for Palm to make a new battery/back cover for the TreoPro that would work on the Touchstone.

Pretty much impossible...there are no contacts for the battery cover.

short answer is no, long one is that htc made the palm pro and all palm did is put a logo on it, while Palm actually designed the Pre and the software for it.

Probably never going to happen. All that would be needed is a adapter extension that fit's between the battery and the contacts that would then attach to the battery cover. Either a spring loaded connection or copper contacts.

The only thing is there would be nothing metering the battery charge. This is probably why Palm has stated the Centro Battery will not work in the Palm Pre. The battery for the Pre has a internal meter to shut off when fully charged.

The Centro battery will work in the Palm Pre fine as long as you charge using the cable. If you use touch stone you may have troubles.
