The Pro has only been out for a few months now... I am just hoping that this is not the end of it's life cycle already... Yes, Palm says that it is still supported... but proactive support is very different than retroactive support.

I have seen to many products get thrown to the curb when something new is out... I can just see with all the interest Palm has in making the Pre succeed, all of us Pro users NEVER getting a new update to our phones because they just don't care anymore. I really hope they do the right thing and proactivly work on ALL their prouducts, not just the ones that have the most hype.

Buy the phone for what it is and because you like it, not because of what it could be or because you don't.

Sure free updates are nice, but I'm content now, which is much more important.

When Palm announced the Pre, it indicated that it would continue development of Windows based PDA's for the corporate market.

With the not-yet-fully-there implementation of Exchange ActiveSync on the Pre, Palm is going to still need a Win Mobile device in their arsenal for the corporate types and others as well.

At the moment, all I need from the Pro to make it perfect is an update to free up more memory, that's it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the phone is pretty solid as it is- we dont really need anything from Palm.

With that said don't hold your breath for an update either!

End of the Pro? Not for me. When I first got it, I loaded it with the stuff I needed and got my date transferred from my 680. I don't see the need for a new phone anytime soon since the Pro fits me perfectly. I don't see the need for never ending software additions or even updates.

Sometime in the future I might take a fancy to something new, but fo now, The Pro is all I need.

That's what we have the folks from XDA and ppcgeeks for !! How in the world did i ever get almost another year's mileage out of my 700Wx if not for folks like Ebag. Even if Palm slacks off (like they usually do), others will come through.

I'd like to see an update for the radio and other little issues with the phone.... it is an excellent phone/pda... but it does have one medium issue and several minor issues that should be addressed.

If those were addressed, this could be the best winmob phone I've ever owned.

i tend to agree with the posts here...finally I have a device that works well! it does need to have access to more of its ram somehow but overall the pro is solid...i hope wm 7 is made available for the pro....and that palm does honor its statements about support. people in the professions and business need a good solid device!

i really love this phone coming from the HTC mogul (titan/6800). too bad the support for this phone is poor. even though an update is not really needed, but would still like a new custom rom to get rid of sprints bloatware and hopefully release more ram (sprint).
