Is there a way to get the GPS to refresh more often than when you move 20 - 30 feet, say to when you move as little as 5 feet.

Also in google maps, is there a hack/setting to make it show your heading as always up, right now north is always up no matter what direction you travel?

you're lucky it's only 20 ft, mine only locates to the nearest 2500 ft. Fortunately my car has GPS.

I think you're using it wrong.

Sounds like you are using "My Location" which is tower triangulation. This is default.

You have to go into the menu and selext "Use GPS" to get accuracy within 50ft.

Yeah... Every time, too... Unless they've fixed that with a recent release... LOL

Exactly... actually tonight I was showing a friend of mine the gps feature on the phone and it picked up the house and put the "blue dot" on the back of the house to the left.. our exact location. Luck or not, it looked cool. lol

the not moving unless you travel 20 to 30 feet is actually a feature. Basically the older GPS where not accurate where as the new GPS chipsets are very accurate and update very quickly. This however adds a problem.

you will be all over the map as it will show all the errors and thus make it appear you are moving several feet all around your actual location. So the newer chip sets average your current location to make it appear smoother. If you exceed 3 to 4 mph then the averaging lessens and it shows actual movement.

The Mio GPS I have I am able to turn off the "smoothing" but the TomTom I have I can not do this. I am hoping there is a way I can turn it off on the Pro when I get mine. If you want to use it for walking trips or Geocaching you need to disable it.

I have used my Touch Pro for geocaching a few times in addition to my DeLorme PN-40 - the Touch Pro display does show me moving and frankly I do not walk 3-4mph. The application I use is BasicGPS.
