No matter what I do I can't get more than 42MB of free program memory with all apps closed.

    Is that normal?
How much free mem do you have?

I will have 43 right after a soft reset, which will often go down to 40 once I use an app, and will hover around 38-39 after a couple day's use. Then I simply do another soft reset (I use MemMaid for that) to bring it back up all over again.

42MB is my best number too.

With my Touch Pro I had 138MB and 305MB (storage). Sure wish they carried the 512MB over to the Treo Pro.

    40MB free after soft reset.
Today screen is minimal, system tweaked...looking to free up more.

The memory hogs seem to be the wm apps themselves. Most apps i've installed have a small memory footprint

I run around 39mb after a soft reset.

It hovers around 31mb shortly after. I run M2D and have my SMS/MMS running in the Exclusive Programs as it seems to help eliminate freezing or minor lags as I text a lot.

Today I ran my Pro through my car receiver. With Windows Media player running audio through my car speakers I was able to check memory. It was over 25mb. I then started to text while the music was running and it was 24mb (I wasn't driving, sitting in parking lot at work). So I opened a few more apps during this process. I must say it handle it quite well. Got under 20 but that's about it.

For those who are starting out at only 20-25 this test would have probably crippled your device. I started with 42mb free.

40mb and change as high as 62mb with just a couple of items like calendar, activesync, messaging running. Came from an HTC Touch where I was around 30mb no matter what was running.
