i am looking to get a new treo pro. probably off ebay. i dont want to get stuck with one of the 1.03 version. i dont know if you guys have seen anything better come out of new build date version either so i will ask two questions...

when contacting ebay seller can they tell by a sticker on the box if...

    1. the software version is the 1.04 verison
    2. the build date

i dont think they can see the build date and maybe not even the software version, but i thought treocentral would know for sure.

maybe sku number, esn number, some number would help get me into the right treo pro. i hate to just buy something and get screwed.

    Thanks for any help, Cody

You can get the serial number and call it in to Palm and ask if it is recalled. The ser# is on the outside of the box. 1.03s are flagged for recall.

Having said all that, I have a 1.03 and have had zero problems.

BOY, did you miss all the fun a few weeks ago.

Here's the link that Infinity3 was talking about:

You can't tell anything by the tag on the box. You need to power up the phone. From the Today screen, go Start>Settings>System>About>Phone to get the software version, it'll either be T850EWW-1.04-SPT or -1.03-SPT. To get the mfg. date dial ##786# from the keypad, and scroll down.

There was a lot of discussion about what the status of the 1.03 phones with Sprint and Palm. I don't think a concensus was ever reached, and I don't want to reopen that discussion here. But I would be wary of getting a 1.03 phone right now unless I had a firm commitment for warranty/exchange if something went wrong with it.

Cody, I did the same thing with no luck. Before I bid I asked the seller. I must have asked a dozen and got only 1 answer (1.03). Other than the ones who claim "1.04" your shooting in the dark.

I should have mine by tomorrow but I'm sure its 1.03. I am not worried about it. We have a fix to the missed call issue thanks to zbop. Just a matter of time for more hacks.

Thanks guys. I do have a good buddy that always hooks me up at the sprint service and repair center. If sprint can activate it... He can swap it. I just don't like to miss use the system. Would like to not plan on it from the get go if you know what I mean.

    Thanks again everyone, Cody

I wouldn't see this case as misusing the system.
These 1.03 weren't supposed to be released and Sprint/Palm should rectify.

Get your ebay pro, apply zbop's fix, and get back to work
