It is big, it has a bit of weight; however, I have no complaints with it. When I use the TP though, I think of it as being too small.

I've had my Tilt2 for 24 hours, now. Other than the crazy 6.5 honeycomb menuing, it's extremely usable. In some ways easier than the Treo Pro. Battery life is excellent -- again better than the Treo Pro. And I say that after having been fully convinced that the Treo Pro was the best phone I had ever owned.

I am thinking about moving my TP2 on my main line in which my Treo Pro is on now. I won't go so far as to say it's the best phone I have used, but it is in my top 3 HTC phones I have ever owned. The TP2 dose have better reception, speaker phone. But to me the phones over all are like apples and oranges, pretty hard to compare the two. But I think the main reason I want to switch is the screen. Also HTC got it right this time, this phone is fun to use.

What is the best phone you have used?

I'm using a Treo Pro and am relatively happy with it. Reception is sometimes problematic, but otherwise no complaints. Main thing is, I'm getting screen envy. My girlfriend just got a Pre and I like it better than I thought I would. It needs work though. I tried the original TP and just didn't like it. Seemed like too much work to do the basic PIM functions.

I'm wondering about going to TP2 or waiting and hoping that Palm comes out with a great second generation Pre.

I got my TP2 last night. Got everything working today.

Nice and big phone and a joy surfing on the net with it.

TouchFlo is nice. Hiding behind is the WM6.1.

Treo Pro is a nice phone minus the plastic keypad and the glossy backscreen.

I got the TP2 because I am bored and just want to try new things out and I want go back to my country this Dec so I can use it as a world phone.

Looking forward to getting the HD2 only if it comes to Sprint.

    Chong,

How are you getting used to navigating without a Dpad?

I asked at PPC geeks about the email functionality without a Dpad.

How do you like the one handedness (or lack of it)?

I am ready for an upgrade (I get new ones yearly) & I was debating on the TP2 or the BB Tour.

My last slider was an original Sidekick & since then I have been WM Treos ever since.

The best was my Moto 7686W.

The screen is awesome, I don't find it hard to do PIM functions, but if you do you can tweak manilla to your liking, or just get rid of it, and use today screen plug-ins like on the Treo Pro. It will be nice when the unlocker is release so we can get 6.5 and titanium, which I like a bit more then manilla

Email without the d-pad is great. Just swipe left or right to go between emails, a swipe up or down to read the email. For a short reply, just bring up the on-screen KB, for a lengthy reply just slide out the real KB.

The more I use the device the better I am getting at using it one handed. It's not as easy as the Treo Pro, but it is acceptable.

Fairly easy... or just as easy as all other wm devices... it works fine... sometimes I'll hit the wrong folder.. not often though... I've learned to point with the top of my finger and press hard.

I got a Touch Pro 2 and loved the screen but after a day without a D-pad and no 800w messaging, I reactivated my Treo Pro. TP2 is going on eBay

I wanted to get my first week under the belt before posting again.

This has to be the best phone I've ever used. Period... no question.

For example, while walking out of a building I often visit, I realized another difference. Before I had to turn off the treo pro in order to get out of roam mode... for the past week the tp2 does not need a reboot... it quickly switches out of roam.

Battery life is excellent... better than I expected, now with a couple of full charges under my belt. 10 hours off charger and I'm at 80% battery. (edit: actually, I talked a while before posting this... 13.5 hours standy, 1 hour 12 min talk, 2 hours 17 min device usage... all since last charge. I'm at 50%. This is also with two email accounts pushing going all day (think at 30 for exchange and 60 for my other email).

I could name a couple of little aggravating things like that I had to put up with the treo pro (even though I still believe it is a great phone... if it were fixed).

With that said, I'm not sure I'm going to keep the touch pro2. Well, am going to keep it because sprint has nothing better... but if the treo pro had all issues fixed, I'd pick that as my main phone. Even with the crappy keyboard.

With the tp2, it seems I'm struggling to do things quickly... things are nice, but I believe the OS is holding it back... in a major way. Anyone who reads my crap know I love Microsoft and their offerings... but even I know a device like the tp2 needs more of an os than a touch flo patch. htc did a good job... but I'd like to access the device software directly from win mob.

Trying to get used to the slider after carrying palms and a q9c for many years takes some getting used to... not to mention I still carry a BB everyday as well. BB I receive maybe 100+ emails a day... it is my main email device for one company. Tp2 is mainly another business with less email and personal stuff (txt, ect). Slider feels like an extra step in getting work done.

I can use one-handed, but find I won't... due to size and screen (slick feel), my mind thinks I'll drop it or it will slip. It won't... but while walking, the tp2 is hard to hold, type and look where you are going. I can type with the bb without looking... treo pro, could not, the darn keys were funky.

Size... well, it is almost too large, almost the right size. It is on the border. Love the large screen... and it feels good against my ear. On my hip, it sucks. Feels like a brick... even though I carried the 700wx for years.

6.5.1 (heck with 6.5) needs to come out soon....

Okay, so I'm a mixed bag... I may even change my mind on some of this stuff... I'm giving you raw thoughts... I'm still in test mode.... still trying to get used to a slider. Still working the virtual on screen keyboard.

    RichTJ99,

Sorry I had been busy playing with my TP2.

I love it. I didnt seem to miss the d-pad at all. Get ready to do alot of finger scrolling on the screen.

I like the phone esp. the screen size! It is nice.

I seldom use the keypad at all. If a Diamond 2 or HD2 comes out, I might get it.

Strongsteve, she said that was quick you gave up on the TP2.

I really like the TP2. The screen of this size is perfect. Any bigger would not be good.

I found out I dont use the keyboard that much anymore. I just do touch screen mostly.

I am suprised I also dont see much of any fingerprint on the screen. I dont know what it is. Maybe its the cool weather now.

I dont know why my Treo Pro is very oily. Maybe its too shiny that can show well?

Someone mentioned of getting a BB Tour instead of the TP2. Do Not get the Tour its straight up horrid. The newer model date may be better but for many who tried 2,3,4 of them its fustrating. Out of the two the TP2 is a better device. Hell a BB Curve runs circles around the BB Tour.

I'd like sprint to get the storm 2... not sure how I'd handle the keyboard, but I'd most certainly give it a try.

SteveUSA over on PPCGeeks recently was posting about using his Touch Pro 2 in China and he said it worked well for him. He was able to use a card from a carrier over there.

You said it about the HD2, that's the one I'm looking forward to. The Touch Pro 2 really is not moving me, I'm content with my Touch Pro. (Especially given the use of custom ROMs.) But the benchmarks for the HTC HD2/Leo are nothing short of incredible and user reviews have been spactacular. That's the kind of "upgrade" I'm looking for .

And it seems HTC is making it much harder to create a HardSPL for their devices. I'm disappointed by that. It took about a month for the Treo Pro to be cracked and it's taking literally months for the Touch Pro 2 to be cracked. I'll just ride with my Touch Pro till it either falls apart or I'm satisfied with moving to something like the HD 2/Leo. I just hope if/when the HD 2/Leo arrives at Sprint that it works well and does not take too long to crack. But given what the HD 2/Leo has out of the box that's looking good enough for me even without custom ROMs, but we'll see if/when a Sprint version comes out. I'll still be doing my post release 30-90 day wait and see approach. Hoping perhaps more snapdragon WM devices come to Sprint in the future and provide other options if HTC keeps trying harder to lock down their devices.

I've got a BB Bold, which is similar to the Tour and I do miss my old BB Curve. At first I thought the BB Bold was a great upgrade, but it has some quirks now and then that never occued with the Curve. My Curve would almost never need a reset, but my Bold has at times just rebooted on it's own, along with some other things that happen oddly at times. And I always keep my BB "stock" with nothing more than carrier upgrades applied to the OS. So I know it's not 3rd party software or anything like that.

Overall, I think even the BB Bold is more stable than WM devices overall, but I hear more complaints about the BB Bold and BB Tour than the Curve.

I've carried a BB device and WM device since Jan of this year... neither one has reset... although, WM devices have the disadvantage of being placed on devices built by companies other than Microsoft so quality control may lack. (Of course, having others build your devices can have advantages as well.) Heck, we have a win 98 computer that has worked since the late 90s back in the lab... it only has one software package installed... I'm not even sure it has updates (not connected to internet). We have an old mac in the same boat. Most OSs will operate fine without a bunch of crap installed (long as the hareware holds up).

This does reflect bad on WM, but should it? Calls to my treo sucked... if someone were new to wm, they might blame wm... but the touch pro 2 has 6.1 also and it works fine. Hard to compare WM vs. BB sometimes... like doing a comparison of Mac vs. PC...

I think I mentioned WM "devices", not just WM. But regarding WM alone, it totally depends on the build of WM. Even with WM 6.1 devices they often each run a different build of WM 6.1. There are WM 6.1 builds that are well known for having BT issues and others that are not. Perhaps the device makers are doing their own tweaks, maybe it's MS, but regardless it comes down to the actual "device". I can say, since I've been using WM 6.5 (builds in custom ROMs), I've made it clear I'll never touch WM 6.1 again. I may flip over to a build of WM 6.5 that has been the build being used on some new WM 6.5 devices.

Still, for certain uses I'll keep the BB.

Every user is going to have a certain device they prefer for some or all things. Most use a BB for everything. I don't like the BB for everything, I use it and a WM device too.

Really, all the various WM "builds" is part of MS' problem. People are saying "WM 6.1", but really everyone's not running the same build and MS calls them all "WM 6.1". To RIM's credit, it seems they make sure that BB OS versions are more clearly identified.

When are they going to have windows mobile 6.5 on the TP2? when they get that I'll take a look. I still like the STP, the only problem is the screen size. Its too small, it makes you not want to do much surfing on the web. if they could mak the STP with then screen size coming down to the key pad & being able to turn vertical, the STP would be near perfect.
