I use stylus/stick all the time. I despise fingerprints on screen. Thats one thing I hate.

I really think that if anyone ever invent a screen where fingerpint never show up, that to me is the best thing since invention of the wheel!

If TP2 is half as thin and with slide out keyboard, then I really have to say its the best ever.

Best replacement for the Touch Pro now is the Sprint Samsung Interprid. It is WM6.5 but the screen is not 320x320. Check the other thread.

in my opinion, there's absolutely no competition between a TP2 and Intrepid. Literally night/day.

TP2 is probably the best WM device on the market today (HD2 could beat it though)--it's elegant, works perfectly, is fast and just fun to use. Intrepid is so stripped down, no customization, frustrating to use and just lacks so much.

Unless HTC comes out with a compelling front-qwerty device (and they could), I think I'm done with these and will be just using the TP2--it's that good.

I did finally see the Intrepid today. The screen looks terrible and not as sharp as the Treo Pro. It is still a little bulky. I still give the edge to the Treo Pro.

I did see the HD2. That thing look like a Diamond 2? I read on a website it will down to two provider that will carry it, Sprint and someone else I forgot. ATT just got their HTC Pure and is that a Diamond 2?

Read also HD2 will be a killer to the iphone.

I read it has this type of screen response as the iphone. Is that resistive vs capacitive screen?

I cant wait for WM7 also.

Everything is a killer to the iphone... lol

Received my touch pro 2 today...

Can't say much right now but wow...

I can't say it is better than phones shaped like the pro... it is too different.

Can say that the browser sucks... mobile phones in general need work.

My spreadsheets look great on the tp2...

I'll need to work with it for a couple of days before making a final decision... but it seems positive so far.

    @ theog,

    Congrats!

My biggest question; Reception & Call Quality?
    oh, and Stability?
    oh and 'One-Handedness'?
    Just call me Berd.

    • Reception: one of the best I've used.
    • Call Quality: very good--loud and clear. Speakerphone is amazing (you just place it screen down and it automatically toggles to speaker phone, which is full duplex)
    • Stability: to me, not really an issue anymore with advanced builds of WM6.1 and WM6.5. It's rock solid
    • Browser: personally I think Opera 9.5 is fantastic and 9.7 is even better. Opera Mini 5 works well plus there is Skyfire. So many options.
    • One handedness: not bad, but not the best--it's kind of too big to handle with one hand. Hopefully we'll get TellMe in a ROM update. That plus VoiceCommand go a long way to helping to almost make it a no-hand device, lol

I dunno, once you use a 3.6" WVGA device, it's real hard to use anything else.

btw, in case anyone is interested, here's my huge review of the Sprint version:

You will really like the web browser on the TP2. I find it comfortable reading on a webpage like CNN.

Did you put a screen protector on it?

I read there is a slight delay when reading email.

Can you put Opera 9.5 or 9.7 on the Treo Pro?

    I saw a video of the HD2:

Hands-on: HTC HD2 – Windows Mobile 6.5 at its best

Man, 1 Ghz processor. Edge to edge screen. No lag.

This thing will the phone of the year in 2010 and I believe.

If I am the CEO of a phone company, I would get it right away.

I guess my TP2 will be a temp.

Reception is great so far... I'll find out more on Monday when I'm in "fringe" areas (part of a job I visit is in a basement).

Call quality has been supurb so far... then again, I've been in great reception areas.

Stability... I don't normally load much... so stability is always great for me on handhelds... I normally load a chess game, ewallet, pdanet, and genttimer... not tried pdanet or genttimer yet... but I'm sure they won't make the device unstable.

I can use it with one hand... but it is so much better to use with two... txt msg with the keyboard is a joy. Then again, as I've been closely watching myself type on my bb I notice I use two hands... one to hold the device and one to type... although, sometimes I do use one hand.

There is so much of a difference... I'd not sure you can compare a device like the touch pro2 to a device like my bb or the treo pro. Unless you disliked one or the other... then it is preference. I like both styles.

For me the use of my spreadsheets alone was worth the move... I can pull and answer email just as fast (if not faster with the large keyboard). Side zoom is great here... lol

Oddly enough, I don't miss the d-pad due to the "direction arrows" on the keyboard and virtual keyboard. I can just as easy move around using those keys and enter.

I simply don't like the web browser... I'm looking for something else in mobile web browsers.... not sure what it is but I'll know it when I see it. I don't think anyone has made a real move in this area... We will all know the killer mobile browser when we see it.

Opera is usable but not great...

No screen protector... I've not used one of those since my t5. Even then I regret that I ever put it on the device....

No delay in reading email... although, not sure I'm crazy about the email app from htc... don't get me wrong, it works great and happens to be fast... but I like the simplicity of MSs solution... In others words, not sure I like stopping off with the envelope before getting to business.

I do love being able to see all the information about an email on one line (from, subject, date, size).

Kinda answered this above... but the scroll is great most of the time. Every now and again I'll hit it too hard and go someplace I'd not picked. But this happened with me on an iphone and pre.... it is getting used to the device.

Dpad I don't miss... I had concerns about it but nothing yet... the arrows take care of that. Then again, my brain works like that... whatever works that gets the job done...

I'll know more next week once I'm in the field and working my jobs. Right now I'm relaxing and enjoying the weekend... playing with the phone here and there... playing chess.

hate to quote myself... but thought I'd add some more...

pdanet 2.0 did make the touch pro2 unstable... had some strange error come up. I did install 1.7 before that, and it worked fine (with usb). I wanted to use pdanet via wifi... so pdanet had to be installed. I uninstalled after a couple of resets. Never did get wifi connection to work when it did work. It was odd... or maybe it was because of vista (dual boot vista /win 7... vista was on so I worked in that).

I installed wifi router and it works like a charm. Does exactly as it claims... very easy to setup and use... much faster than pdanet (not sure why). Wifi router is a smoking app... it is like pdanet 10.5.

Gentimer looks like crap (bottom part looks washed out)... but it work me up this morning. lol The part to setup and use the alarm looks good... can't see an update on their site, so I guess this is it. I'll keep it until win mob 7... unless this does not work with win 6.5.

Yep, congrats. I ordered mine day 1 and got it day 2. My initial reaction was also wow and continues to be that. I am not an Opera fan, so I set it up to use IE. The spreadsheet works well and I also use Documents To Go, which allows me to have 2 spreadsheets open at the same time. I like the search functionality in DTG better and the creation of a spreadsheet in Excel better. Excel is also much more stable, as DTG will eventually have a problem with the resolution, which requires saving, exiting and restarting the application. PDANet has worked well.

I have also made a real effort to learn to use and enjoy the screen keyboard. I use it and hate it. I rarely use the hardware keyboard, but I do prefer it.

I install most everything to the card. I have played with Pocket Outlook for email and went back to FlexMail for both email and SMS.

Here in Paradise there are areas that do have problems reaching civilization; however, most of the time it is not a problem. Reception & call quality: excellent. Stability - I have had no resets at all. FlexMail sometimes has to take a moment to load a big email w/attachment, but otherwise not a problem. One-handed operation - it is that with the screen keyboard.

HTC make their on wifi software too and its free. Did you use it?

    I bought wmfirouter.

Does it include Microsoft email program on the TP2?

Yes, Pocket Outlook is included and does work with both POP and IMAP, though the IMAP is timed, not IDLE. I use Flexmail and it does very well on the TP2.

In the alarm area I use PTravel Alarm. It is limited to 10 alarms but other than that it does ok.

I tired the HTC application and since PDANet works fine I did not change.

First full day... yea, I'm sold on the touch pro 2. Period...

Battery is right there with the treo pro... nice to see all that green after a full day off the charger. This was with two email accounts hitting the net... one every 30 minutes, one every 60... I manually check every now and again.

Some of the things that "sold me" today:

finding out the arrow button on the bottom acts like a "close button" so I don't have to hit okay.

Opera has the old IE Mob 5 "mobile view" of websites. Boom... I'm sold on Opera now. lol...

    Battery life is great....

Reception on par with my q9c... No issues with txt msgs or phone calls in basement. Good test for me since it is a fringe/trouble area...

    Other stuff...

Send recieve on email has no indicator... not a big deal, but I like to manually check multiple email sometimes. Before I had to wait for one to finish before starting another.

Page down feature on the keyboard is great for longer excel files.

Be glad when I figure out how to map my own keys with the "fn" feature...

Not sure what else I could add... this is a solid phone. Reminds me of what a larger/better moto q9c would have been (w/ touch screen), not an htc device. Moto's are always good on reception and build quality... this phone has both of those.

After all, what good is a phone if you can't make or recieve phone calls?

Far as HTC wmrouter... I see a bunch of cabs and junk all over the net. Long story short, it is worth the money to buy something that works great and you don't have to toy with... I'll spend an extra $30+ for something that works well out the box... wifirouter is that, plus it has extra features that the htc version does not.

Pocket outlook is great... no issues there....

Safe and sad to say my posts here will be limited... I don't even own a treo pro anymore... I do own a treo 700.... looks like I'll have to find another mobile phone site to call home. :-(

PO on my 800W did not work at all. I had so many connection issues with it that I quickly began looking for an email replacement (Flexmail). I tried PO on the TP and TP2 and it works well on them.

I am a BT user, so the visual notifications are not too important to me.
