As much as I hate to involve myself is this back and forth, I hope a little explanation will bring closure rather than more bickering.

The whole BGR and 9/3 talk started in this thread in an earlier comment of mine.

TheOG was responding to that in this comment. Although he only cited my comment about the 3.5mm jack, he was also speaking about the mentioned release date and spoke of how he saw some other site mention a different date. From there, I spoke of how I found the reports on BGR to be fairly reliable. I mentioned how BGR had a prior correct report about the Sprint Treo Pro release date. Then, TheOG responded feeling that BGR "finally" got the date right by reporting 9/8. That is why Aero started commenting about the reliability of BGR and 2 release dates.

I never got an impression that anyone was claiming BGR made any potential release date statement before anyone else, but rather my point and I think Aero's is that BGR usually reports something when it's fairly reliable information. Although not an "official" statement, it usually is correct. Today that has again been proven true.

My guy at sprint corp is telling me today that hero will not require everything and that the internal language of requirments is currently identical to that of WM!
I hope it's true. Just read the Sprint press release and had some hopes when i saw a line mentioning that the Hero is compatible with Sprint plans that have unlimited data and so forth...and then further down they are cooing about the advantages of the SEP, and bla bla bla.

Darnell, while I appreciate your contribution, it is simple attribution and sourcing of material. Had someone, anyone, at least mentioned Phone Arena as the source for the now accurate Sprint release date, it would have been better.

Instead, we had multiple posts on how BGR "...got this dead on" and "let's hope BGR does as well as it did with the TP2".

As an academic and fellow tech-blogger, I found that insulting since these web sites work hard for their exclusives and here BGR was given all the credit for their "...most accurate inside info on upcoming handsets and releases" even though they didn't contribute any exclusives on the Sprint TP2.

That's my only issue. Carry on.

I got denied for the Touch Pro 2 on SERO just a little while ago. I think Sprint is confused on this policy.

That seems odd. Were you buying at full retail or contract renewal?

Tried both, didn't really matter--was going to pay $500+ for it. The CS rep,who was very helpful, said it was showing up as incompatible with my plan and I'd have to switch.

Others are reporting the same, yet another group is having no problems. So I think it is just mis-communication. Oh Sprint...

Can't say for sure... but the wording is a bit different than that of the tp2 or hero. For example, the pre states

    Pricing and Availability

The Palm Pre phone will be available from Sprint on June 6 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year service agreement on an Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan. An array of compelling accessories also will be available for Pre, including the Palm Touchstone charging dock. The Touchstone™ Charging Kit, which includes the Touchstone charging dock and Touchstone back cover for Pre, will be available June 6 for $69.99. The Touchstone charging dock and Touchstone back cover also are available separately from Palm for $49.99 and $19.99, respectively.

So you can compare and source: Sprint | News Release: Sprint to Offer Palm Pre Nationwide on June 6

The palm pre's release states "on an Everything Data..." The rest seem to mention and talk about the Everything Data plan... or that is my take. Guess we will know soon for sure...

Much as I want the tp2, I'm still going to wait for the sprint reviews... I think...

I can't justify the $349 they want for it currently. I know T-Mobile started at $349 then over month later its at $149 (they raised it now). With 6.5 and other options on the original TP, for many of us another $349 and contract renewal in 12 months is not doable. At least that's how I feel. I will wait a little. Obviously I can care less about the release date.

Verizon's version of the TP2 is rumored to be dropping on 9/11. Price of $199.99 after rebate. Hopefully AT&T follows suit on the pricing, but somehow I think it will be at least $249.99 from ATT.

Yeah, 3rd time was the charm

I don't appreciate the deception from Sprint on this. One CS told me you can't activate it on SERO, though they could order it technically. Of course people are activating it on SERO with no problem today. Lame

Anyways, should be here soon. Will use for 27 days and return it, maybe go on eBay to get another if I like it.

I read this as well... if true, it will be interesting to see how sprint, t-mobile, and ATT plays it.

I think the TP2 is a bit on the high side... but thought sprint either did not want to put it against the pre or based a price off tmobile... then again, could be some other business considerations as well... who knows.

It is a nice device, but $350 (pushing $400 with taxes) is a bit much for a cell phone. IMO... lol

What a strange way to put it. All the sites use information from others as well as having their own primary sources, the skill which BGR has in is choosing which rumors seem most likely to be true. Most of the time non of them reference their secondaries.
So what I stated was precisely correct.
I think I have a better understandably of sourcing on this. I knew when the Brightpoint-Telesales would begin because of the date spread.

    Sept 3rd as I predicted.

You are defend a silly assertion that the presence of two dates a few days apart makes for inaccurate rumors -- when what I clarified was that the Sept 3 would likely be the bightpoint/telesales soft and sept 8 had/in store as it has been historically for business devices! I was correct both on the dates and on the REASON for the alleged "date discrepancy." It is childish of you to attack when events proved me exactly correct.

Minimal but correct more than others-- that is the point.

I think your rant agaisnt BGR is a bit childish. We all loeve WM Experts but sometimes they get schooled too.

You don't get the fact that for soft launch on business sales Brightpoint = telesales soft launch -- that was my point. Sorry if you felt offended by me getting that right.

I should also note I got right the fact that the majority of customers not on Everything plans would be fine getting this. Peopel claiming what this Sprint rep or that sprint rep told them, as you were told by a low level rep you could not get it without everything were incorrect. I already knew it was open to all plans from my business reseller (my brightpoint carrier). H

I don't think they are confused. I think you got a sales pitch. Some reps will tell you need everything plans for Treo Pro!

Please don't take a Low level Sprint rep as a "source"!

There was no source, nor a story. I merely explained my experience here with Sprint CS (3 reps actually)--something that has happened with other customers as well.

A sales pitch is not what I was given. Ultimatums are not sales pitches. When you tell a customer "you cannot order this phone with your current plan", that is not honest.

Fact is either I was deliberately lied to or they don't have their CS reps trained on this issue.

As to everything else you scribbled, all I have to say is BGR was not the source for the Sept 3rd date, it was and will always be Phone Arena--they received and posted the internal document. No Phone Arena, no BGR story. No matter how convoluted your logic may get, it doesn't change that. No one gets credit for re-running a story--maybe for your own personal satisfaction, nothing counts until BGR posts it, but that is your standard, not for everyone else. (And I did not "rant" against BGR--they're a great site, but they don't cover every story, nor should they as they mostly do macro-news).

I got a full day with 1 15 minute feeding at noon time. The end of the day was 80% and that was with email, texting, Excel, HanDBase and the phone. Not bad at all. I find it to be solid with no initial wigging at all.

The Touch Pro 2 is out. You can order from Sprint website now.

You can get it even if you are on the SERO plan.

However, no discount for me. It will cost me $600 to get it.

Any of you here have jump from Treo Pro to the Touch Pro 2?
    Dell x51v → Motorola Q (Verizon) → Mogul → 800w → Treo Pro → Touch Pro 2 (SERO) → HTC EVO 3D → HTC EVO 4G LTE → HTC One S → Nexus 4
