I think any phone that relies on a touch screen for the main source of input is a two handed phone. One hand to hold the phone and one to point, tap, gesture, etc. The Treo Pro is a one handed phone for most operations. Digging into menus to change settings etc. is going to require the stylus. But most common tasks can be done one handed.

Actually I'm rather good with one hand now... I've "learned" the on screen keyboard and now like it a lot better than typing on the treo pro... treo pro keyboard is not the best keyboard on the planet.

D pad is not needed... the arrows on the hard and soft keyboards more than make up for it.

For those who like battery info:

    Standby: 11 hours 43 min
talk time: 2 hours 55 min
device usage: 3 hours 33 min

    40% battery left....

After all this ownership time, this was the first time I had it off the charger all day while making calls...

I have one question. When I go to my today's page in my calender, it shows my today's appointment. But it also shows weather in New York, NY. I guess it is the default setting except I don't know who to change it to my city.

    Thank you.

    Assuming your TP2 is stock....

    1. On the main screen

    2. Click on the large time

    3. You are now in "World Clock"

    4. Change your city

    5. Go back to your calendar and the city in the "World Clock" is the city now listed in your Calendar.

    I love this phone....

    Thank you very much!

I like the phone also, but not without complaints. Here they are:

    1. in Treo Pro, to fill an email address or SMS phone number, all I have to do is in the "to" field, type either last name or first name, email of people with that last name or first name will be there for me to make a choice. With Pro2, I have to go to "menu", "add a recipient", then enter name. It's just slower and take more motions.

    2. In Treo Pro, when I type, I can ask the Treo to give me 4 suggestions on word completion. I almost never have to completely type long words such as "tomorrow". With the Pro2, the word completion doesn't work with the physical keypad! How did they get that idea?

    3. No Sprite backup in Pro2. I had to buy one.

    Another question.

There used to be a cab file called "ICSenable.cab" that was supposed to make tethering on Sprint Treo Pro untraceable. Does this cab file do the same for Sprint's Touch Pro2? If not, is there a similar file that does?

    Thank you.

There is a registry edit to enable the Treo Pro style word completion.

    http://www.wmexperts.com/tip-enable-...te-touch-pro-2

Could someone kindly make a cab file for this? I have never edited a WinMo registry.

    Thanks.

Thanks... that is what I needed... but not really looking for. Hopefully the reg edit does not break something else. lol

I was using wifi router... well, I had the demo... not needed it yet, so I did not purchase. Will have to before the holidays hit.

I would say wifi router might be a good option, outside of hacks...

When I first got the TP2 I was surprised that the screen didn't have hard coating (abrasion resistant coating). It's pretty obvious when you compare it against the Treo Pro. Hard coated acrylic lens feels slippery. Then I found HTC wanted me to laminate a protect film onto the screen!

The saving grace is that the film was well made. It stuck well and I managed to not trap any air bubbles.

I guess in a way it's good. If you scratched a hard coated lens (as I did with my Treo Pro), you are stuck with it. If you scratch this film, you can peal it off and start anew.

By the way, if you scratched a hard coated screen, never try to polish it because you will polish off the hard coating and make the rest of the screen even more prone to being scratched.

    theog,

I found a cab for the classic word completion. It's at ppcgeek's forum, buried in the long tweak and tip thread.

Here it is. From Redd214's post.

I find the GPS on the TP2 to be better than on the Treo Pro.

When someone call I can see the State its calling from. They use to have this on the 800w, but not the Treo Pro.

I cant do distinct phone ring with someone on my contact or not. On the Treo Pro you can.

I just switched my TP2 to my main line yesterday.

I'm trying a Touch Pro 2 now. While it has lots of features and the screen is awesome, I don't find it as useful for quick entries or quick lookups as the Treo Pro. The TP2 seems better suited for sit down, 2 handed use and the Treo Pro better for quick, short, on the go functions.

Not that one is better than the other, it just depends on what you plan to do with your phone the majority of the time.

My AT&T Tilt 2 is on the way. I'm ready for a bigger screen and a full-sized keyboard. The WM7/Snapdragon phones with US 3G are probably a year away at this point and the Touch Pro 2 is the best WM 6.5 device available right now.

Yup really like mine. I thought I might switch back and forth with the Treo, but no way.

I'm using a TP2 now and trying to love it, but I'm probably going to go back to the Treo Pro. I just can't seem to do much one handed on the TP2. For starters, it's just harder to hold while using one handed, I think it's the taper on the sides. I put a rubber coating on the back of my Treo Pro, maybe I've forgotten what is like to hold it it before that.

Secondly, not having a d-pad is slowing me down. Try entering a task or an appointment one handed and choosing a category, it's just not easy. Or selecting an item from a list or a dropdown when changing any settings. It's not really the fault of the TP2, WM just wasn't designed to be used that way.

Also, I love the way you look up a contact on the Treo Pro, just start typing any part of their name while on the Today screen and a list of matches comes up. Scrolling through the names on the TP2 is just more tedious, not to mention when you're trying to scroll and your finger rests too long or too hard on a name and that contact opens up unintentionally.

I am going to spend some more time with the TP2 to see if I can get used to these things. The screen is beautiful and the speakerphone is awesome.

You don't have to scroll to find contacts. Once in the contacts page you can pop up the onscreen KB and start typing, and you will get that list.

I know this phone won't be for everyone, but with anything new you need to give it a good amount of time.

That was the case for the Treo Pro also. It took me a while to get it customized the way I like it. It's hard to change much on the Touchflo interface though.
