I didn't know where to post this thread so I am posting it here for all Treo Pro users of Sprint. I just bought an 800w and I like it a lot. Realized after I bought it that Sprint stopped selling it. My awesome contract Sero F&F 500 ($30) expires in a few months. Has anyone bought the Treo Pro with a full discount through Sprint and got to keep their Sero plan (with a contract renewal)? Sounds impossible but I wasn't sure if anyone here has done it. Thanks

I just upgraded from a 700p to the Pro. I have SERO, this was a contract renewal, and I paid $299 for the phone, and sent in for the $100 mail in rebate. I wasn't told anything about losing my SERO plan.

I also have SERO F&F 500 and just upgraded to the TP for $249 while maintaining my plan, but I was past my 22 months commitment.

Yes. I got 6 month left and they renew it on the day you purhase and get another 2 yr. My 6 mth left is forgiven. Thanks Sprint!

I would get it thru the web. Dont go to the store. At the store they make me open the phone right away. They say they had to program it now! So they put fingerprint all over the place! I like to enjoy and dissect my new phone at home and slowly. Never again would I get a new phone at the Sprint store.

$299 and 100 mail in rebate brought it to 199- did it over the phone- telesales transfers you to a special unit because its SERO>

On the phone, they said the stores aren't allowed to handle SERO accounts- it has to be done through telesales, I went into the store anyway and they told me the same thing. So I called up nd had it the next day.

I asked them a million times if my SERO remains - it does with a 2 year renewal- and says so on the receipt.

I got my phone at Best Buy (about 4-5 days before the Sprint stores started selling them). I was only eligible for a one year upgrade so my phone cost me $429 ( it would have been $269 with a two year upgrade). Now that I have found what Sprint would sell me the phone for, I will be getting a price match from Best Buy. I'm also looking into seeing if I qaulify for the $100 rebate. But I was able to keep my $30 SERO F&F 500 plan and it was renewed for two years. The only downside I've seen so far is the SprintNav package won't work with it because it requires an add-on to the plan @ $9.99/month. As long as you're not changing wanting to change anything on your plan, Sprint will let you keep any plan you currently have. I thought going through Best Buy might be a problem, but they took care of everything, including contract renewal and activating the phone in store.

I got SERO plan and I was able to get the phone right there and then at the Sprint store.

I check just now and I am still on the SERO plan.

That's awesome news. As soon as I am eligible for the $150 discount, I will upgrade to the Treo Pro (right now it says I am only eligible for $75). You think Sprint will no longer grandfather us in and make us sign a different contract a few months down the road? Hope to be joining you Pro users in the near future.

Sprint has always grandfathered in older plans or matched rates with discounts on newer plans. they may not be making as much money as they would like off of sero customers but losing 25 to 50% of them by raising rates would kill sprint.

You have to look at the downside for sprint if they force sero customers off:

    1) Many of those customer, perhaps 50%, are on a budget and would go to a debit prepaid plan with another carrier.

    2) Many of those who would stay with sprint would churn.

Sero customers are not bad for sprint. without them their numbers would be on death's door. GM would rather sell you a Cadillac, but do you think they would kill their chevy division?

If i buy a Pro and have it activated, do i need to renew my SERO plan? I really am waiting for the Pre but just wanted to try out the Pro without affecting my upgrade options when the Pre comes out.

Why would you not renew the SERO for another 10 years? Did you have the $30 plan?

I think if your 30 days is not up, you can keep getting another phone.

Otherwise after 30 days, you cant get any discount.

LOL... he does not want to renew for the pro since he wants to save his renew options to get the palm pre (which is smart since the pre will more than likely cost more)....

If you are on sero and your contract is over, you continue on sero with no penalties... my sero plan expired in January....

Not sure where you are getting your information... we will still get a discount... matter of fact, sprint would love to have people like us back in contract... even more if we pay on time each month (I've not missed a payment in 27 months).

How much are you expecting to pay for the Pro if you don't renew or extend your contract? You can get any phone that is compatible with your plan and activate it and keep your SERO plan. But if you want to get the Pro at a discount price by upgrading or extending, then you wouldn't have that option with the Pre, at least for another year.

I'd say get the pro on ebay... although the little 1.03 deal is making it difficult to trust ebay sellers... although, I don't think the 1.03 issue is a big deal anymore...

At sprint the pro is $199 after all the rebates/deals/etc. On ebay, you can buy one with "buy it now" around $235. Might even get it cheaper by going auction. Point is that paying a small premium of $35 might be cheaper than buying the pre at full cost (depending how much it will cost -- no one knows for sure).

One way to do it is keep locking in on the 2 year. I got my Pro and I am happy to renew my Pro for another 2 yrs on SERO.

Again, what are you talking about?

The OP wants two devices within two or three months of each other.

Are you suggesting two 2 year contracts in that short period of time? I don't even think it can be done...
