I found the registry key to enable the option for WM to sound the alarm even when set to silent but it doesn't work. I'd like to be able to keep my phone on silent but still have the alarm sound in the morning.

Also, the option to "Flash light" doesn't seem to make any difference in the alarm options. Anyone know what that does?

i think the toggle button on top kills any and all sounds. i do believe if you seilent the phone via the volume rocker on the sound your regedit might work.

I read somewhere a long, long time ago that GAlarm addresses this as long as the switch is not in the off position...just reading though.

I use the setup you desire. I have Treo Alerts installed and it controls all Alert sounds and vibrations. I have it scheduled to not give me any alerts from 10pm-8am. This makes it so the phone will not ring or vibrate between those hours. I have an Alarm set for 6:30am that still makes noise because it is not controlled by Treo Alerts. Works perfectly.

anyone know if it's possible to add to the "Clocks & Alarms"? I could set up calendar items, but like how it's managed there.

Not much of a fix. If you wanted an alarm set to 8:30am, you'd have to set the alarm and also reconfigure Treo Alerts. At least we know that the 800w has the same problem because of the hardware switch.

How odd is this? This review says that the GSM version works as it should. ww.mytodayscreen.com/palm-treo-pro-windows-mobile-done-right/

"It also acted as my alarm clock. And here is something that I have seen some great debates on…how should an alarm handle itself when a phone is on silent/vibrate? The iPhone alarm still goes off even when it is flipped to silent. The alarms on most Windows Mobile phones stay silent unless the volume is on. The Treo Pro alarm screen has an option that will allow you to toggle if you want to hear the alarm when the ringer switch has been flipped. I love this feature because I almost always keep my phones on vibrate. This means that if I get a text message in the middle of the night, it comes in quietly, but when I tell my phone I need to wake up…it will wake me up."

This alarm still is still not fix for this phone. I think its Microsoft fault. The WM6.1 alarm feature is weak! Do not trust it if your life depends on it.

I think in general many of the things Microsoft does is on purpose... they do want developers to write apps for their products...

The alarm is not "broken" but it does not work as some wish. I use mine every morning and have since late Dec... works without fail... I don't turn my ringer off as everyone knows not to call at night now....

I simply setup my emails to not arrive, so now my phone is very silent... but I figure if someone calls me at 1 am, I need to take the call... so I leave my phone on...

Just turn off the phone signal. How do you use Microsoft to do a snooze?

When the alarm goes off hit menu instead of dismiss and select the time you wish to snooze. If that is too involved for when you first wake up, then you can set a second alarm to go off 15-30 minutes after the first one.

But I confess I use both my Treo Pro and a standard alarm clock. The Treo Pro is in case the power goes out or something else happens. The Treo hasn't let me down yet.

    I just use SPB Time.

I just turn off the phone signal when I go to bed and the Pro backup as my another alarm.

Maybe I did not explain myself clearly. I can set an alarm for whatever time I want and it will go off. Treo Alerts just insures that nothing other than the alarm will wake me up.

The hardware switch will make sure that nothing makes any noise at all. Its not a problem, its a feature that no other WM phone but Palm has.

I figured it out. If I just use the volume control and not the hardware switch to set the Treo Pro to "vibrate mode", all sounds are muted but the alarm will still ring through.
