Skyfire sells your browsing habits to third parties - it is in the privacy (or is that un-privacy) statement....

Dowload Java and use Opera Mini. Works great and does flash fine just like Skyfire without bulky-ness.

Vibrant...thanks for the intel again...which version of opera mini...the new beta one? I haven't searched yet but I'm sure it won't be hard to type 'java windows mobile 6' into google...

Besides the privacy thing, which I really don't care too much about cause it's just ip addresses and content... In your own personal opinion can you give me a couple pro's/con's on using opera vs skyfire vs pie(both versions).... If you get a sec...thanks...

Just a heads up - It looks like opera mini uses a similar compression technique to skyfire to increase speed. The opera web site mentions using opera's servers to increase speed, which to me means that the opera folks are getting a look at our mobile web usage, just like the skyfire folks. I'm going to look a little deeper to hopefully prove myself wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this.

EDIT: Well, the opera site does state that their servers are not storing any personal data and that usage information is just aggregates with no individually identifiable blah blah etc... But, an opera mini user is definitely passing all their web traffic through proxy severs owned and operated by Opera Software. Being one of the people responsible for the proxy servers where I work, I'm all too familiar with the type of information available to proxy owners about their users. Since this particular proxy owner is in bed with Google, I can't see how they'd get away with not tracking our personal usage and passing it along to big brother.

I'm a big Opera Mini fan- but decided to give Skyfire a whirl- and while it's clearly in the Beta stage, and obviously slow to load, it does ahve one feature that works nicely- it's th only browser (free) that I've tried that seamlessly plays embedded video in the browser- and plays it pretty cleanly-

I've only tried a couple of blog sites- but I'm very impressed with this feature- I'll be keeping an eye out for the final version- if they improve the speed, it may become my default-

Until them, Opera Mini is miles above the others-

Oh. Not for Palm OS. I hate that Palm devices are running WinMobHel...so friggin' confusing knowing what will and won't run. Well, that's my bad, was doing a search and didn't realize that it took me to the WinMobHel area...never mind. Just searching for a real browser for the Centro.

Is there a link to the Opera Mini Java bundle, I got Opera Mini OK , just not sure on the Java bundle.

They should have a bundle. You can go to java.com and download jbed, version depending on your device. That's how I found it.

I tried uploading both to files to this thread but they are too large.

I also have loaded up Windows Mobile 6.1 to the 700wx. Works pretty well. It's like having a Treo 800w in a 700wx body minus GPS and all the bugs.
