I am looking to buy a new Treo 800w.
Where can I get it for the best price?
    Thanks!

Wait until the Pro is released, and there will probably be a few.

You could also wait and see if Sprint will drop their price.

    Otherwise, Craigslist or eBay.

Is it better to get it new, or used should be fine?
And is there any reason not to buy a phone from Craigslist?
And is there any way to get a list of fixes, updates, and tweaks to run when I get it?
And around how much should I expect to pay for the phone?

As long as the ESN is good and the phone works, used is no problem.

New 800w's are $199 if you are eligible for the full 2 year discount.

If you're not eligible for the 2 year discount, a new 800w is $225 including shipping. Used ones sell for about $150 shipped.

The lower price from Sprint doesn't help of much, because I am not eligible for an upgrade yet.
Any other cheap places to get them?
Unless I can convince them I've had enough trouble with my old phone that I deserve a cheaper price...
    Any ideas?

I bought one on Ebay for around 210 including shipping.
I hope I didn't pay too much for it.
I know there is a list of fixes, but is there a list of updates to run, and programs to install?
And which browser is the best?
    Thanks!

Sounds like a fair price to me.

The FAQ will answer you question on this one:

I just use PIE because it works and is quick and easy to use.

Some people prefer Opera Mobile beta (which is free), Opera Mobile standard (which is not), or Opera Mini (which requires a java runtime environment, such as Sprint Titan).

For flash I use Skyfire, which is in open beta currently.

I just got one from a Sprint store for $50 w/no activation fee. I was eligible for an upgrade, but I expected to pay $199. So did the people working there, because they were surprised. I've got 6 lines on my acct, so maybe that helped me.... really not sure.

I was considering waiting for a Pro (but my 700wx died and I needed to get something), but for $50 I'm thinking I did the right thing.

    $50 vs $250.

What other discounts did you get to go from $99 to $50?

Which browsers display a full webpage the best?
One of the things I bought the Treo for was to be able to do research and look up sites on the go.
Also, I heard Opera is good. Is the full version free?
One more thing - I need to get a cover that will protect the whole device, but mainly the screen. I need something that isn't too big or bulky, and won't get in the way.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks for all the help!

PIE with a Redfly displays full pages incredibly well.

    What is Redfly?
And I added a question to my last post about covers.
    What do you recommend?
    Thanks.

    Redfly: http://celiocorp.com/

I have a beta unit, and I liked it so much I purchased my wife one. So far she likes it, though it's a bit slow on her 700wx (the 700wx is just a bit too slow for it, 800w works just fine).

As for cases, I really like Seidio cases (though I confess to not owning one ).

Well, I have a brand new Treo 800 here, I have been thinking about listing on eBay for 250.00

I don't mind selling to someone on here if they are interested.
    Brand new, never been activated.

If I'm not going to purchase a Redfly unit, which browser will display a full web page the best on the phone?
And will the cases hold up through a lot of touchscreen usage?

Opera Mobile 9.5 does a good job, SkyFire does good, and Opera Mini, but that is a proxy service.

Sounds about right. it is $99 and typical line renewal credit is $50 to $70 if you have a good payment history.

Can anyone recommend a specific cover/case that isn't too expensive, and will protect the screen well?
And with a Java program, which will work better - Jbed, or Sprint Titan? I want to use the Gmail app, and maybe a browser.
And is the beta version of Opera Mobile limited at all? And if it is, is the last full version much better?
And is there one browser that is overall the best?
And to install programs, will it work if I download them on a computer, and copy the files afterwards?
