I'm really trying to think of some good reasons to get this thing next week:

    (1) I'm not going to get anything more than a $75 discount.
    (2) My Centro does everything I actually need to do.
    (3) I can probably do things quicker on my Centro.
    (4) I will waste at least a week playing with the Pro.
    (5) I'll have to buy some apps.
    (6) Immediately after I scratch it good, the Pre will be available.

That's it I'm getting one! Can't wait until next Sunday!
Are there any WM apps that you're needing/wanting to run? Is there anything about your Centro that you don't like?

Some key features in the Treo Pro that aren't in the Centro are:

    3.5mm headset jack
    much larger battery
    flush touchscreen
    A2DP
    WiFi
    GPS
    larger keyboard

Does your Centro run on Dunkin?

I was at best buy tonight and the guy at the cell phone area showed me the mockup for this. It is very cool looking, pretty thin compared to the other treos at least. If I wasn't so anxious for the pre, I might consider this.

It really is an amazing design. I'll be getting the Treo Pro and probably the Pre as well.

I am excited to get this phone. I have had Every Palm/ HandSpring PalmOS phone since the 280G yes with Graffitti. well ok I did not have the 280 with the keypad. I have even had a VisorPhone SB3000. Using WM6.1 will be totally new for me. I have much $$ invested in Palm Applications so my first purchase is StyleTap. I know I will not be able to Sync Palm Apps anymore but I am ok with it. I will have to admin I am a little intimidated by WM6.1 never really liked the PPC enviroment. A co-worker has convinced me that WM6.1 has come a long way since the old PPC / WinCE days. So I am going to take the plunge.

The Palm Pre look's very sweet. It is however not going to be my first choice for a few reasons.
    1.) No External storage.
    2.) No legacy App Support
3.) No Garmin-XT support. (I like having maps on the device or external SD)

    Those are my top three.

I was kind of Hoping someone here who may have made the change from PalmOS to WM could give me a heads up on what to watchout for.

    Thx.

I heard a rumor that Radio Shack might get the Treo Pro before Sprint stores do since Radio Shack is a Bright Point reseller. Is this true?

    AFAIKAFAIKAFAIK $that$ $never$ $happens$.

I would think Best Buy would be first as they have really edged out RS as Sprint's primary non-corp store seller.

Either way, multiple sources are suggesting that it may be up to 2 weeks before the brick-n-mortar stores actually get these.

Does this phone have a TRUE picturemail app like the htc pro and diamond or is it the stupid update they did to the treo 800w where its stupid ....cause i like how the native app lets the pic right on the phone no links

I would still call what is on the HTC Pro and Diamond "ganked" Picturemail, as Sprint's whole system is crap.

But it'll have what those phones have.

BTW, for months now people have been using the native WM6.1 SMS system and PictureMail on the 800w. It's a simple .cab install from Hannip.

Always an option is the Palm Threaded SMS, which can be adjusted to support MMS quite well.

Someone needs to port it to the 800w.....

Yes, it has true picturemail. It also has Standalone GPS. So nice.

But other than picture mail, standalone gps, and htc's wicked-sweet form factor are we seeing anything really new here? Sprint probably didn't want anything taking away from their PRE hype. My 800w basically does the same job as long as I can deal with the extended battery hump, which occasionally does make me scream in all out bloody murder. What we are all really paying for, is the flush touch screen and allover sexiness of the design, but is this worth dropping another 24months just so we can buy the PRE again? Unless palm snuck something fantabulous under the hood, I'll bide my time w/my curve and 800w, till the PRE comes out, and if its an utter failure will promptly spend my money on the PRO
    Powah to the Headset Jockeys!

    @sp33d_Dialz

No, nothing cutting edge or unique with the Treo Pro (compared to the Pre)--just a nicer packaged 800w. Other than that, it's a pretty standard WM6.1 Pro messenger device.

Hmm this is a waste of time I already have a better phone which is called a HTC Touch Diamond.

I would agree with you but lots of people are getting free upgrades to the Treo Pro because of defects in the 800w. That makes the Treo Pro much more attractive, not to mention the MUCH higher resale value of the Treo Pro if you should decide to get the Pre later on.

How can you say "lots of people are getting free upgrades to the Treo Pro" when the Treo Pro still isn't available, so no one has gotten an upgrade at all?

+1 I'm curious about this as well.

I don't think it's responsible to say you can "free upgrade" your 800w to a Treo Pro. Sprint has not confirmed any such policy. It seems highly unlikely to me that they are going to allow any and all 800w users (well pass their 30 days) to walk into a Sprint store and walk out with a free Treo Pro.

If I am wrong, then fantastic. But until this actually happens, I don't think it's fair to people who read this board, thinking this policy is allowed by Sprint, especially since not a single person on the planet has done this yet. In fact, besides myself, at HoFo yesterday:
