The 6 on 6, in hindsight, could be just the emulator running ;-) Plus, just recently MS talked about that browser and two things struck me a bit worrisome

    (1) It's not really ready
    (2) China is getting it first

Worst case scenario for me right now: not a hoax, just change of plans (i.e. delayed, cancelled)

That's why I really hope Thursday shows some official info---I mean, I wanna know what it looks like already! What if it's puke green! lol

I certainly don't know much specific about the meaning or crediblity of the 6 on 6. I was just recalling it since one of the WMexperts writers had noted it for the Sprint Treo Pro.

I do agree that you hit it right noting that all these things cause a circular "confirmation" phenomena, a kind of feedback loop.

For example there are not 100 sources claiming the 800w will be "replaced" by the Sprint Treo Pro. In fact there is one source -- repeatedly cited. Of course on the other hand if that is not a hoax image I am not sure that parsing absence of a public statement of OEL which would not be publically announced even if Palm stopped making the 800w (or already did some time ago) until almost all the back stock was depleted is to the point either.

I've followed a lot of what you have written and learned a lot. I think I recall at some point you mentioned that casings are the last item to be finished and the easiest to change. So the color, tactile, in in the case of the pro, quality control of the case may well be the only serious user difference in the gsm and cdma.

We don't even know about the GPS yet, and I think you agree that will be one of the first things people here will be curious about. Will it be lightening fast like the 800w but not standalone, will it be standalone like the Pro, or will it truly have the best of both worlds.

Yes because I can, thank you. No seriously it was just returned from Palm due to the housing cracks. However Palm's service is so bad that they lost the phone and 44 days later they replaced it with this new one. Now it ships with an extra battery and stylus. I will have pics of it in a few days. It's my buddy's. He has a FUZE and iPhone. He hated the Treo Pro then it cracked 3 days later.

$475 shipped which is good. eBay selling them from $479-$549 shipped. I include an extra battery and battery cover.

The Palm website has been updated. It now shows the Treo Pro only available as a GSM+EDGE device. That was under the compare details where previously it showed it as 3G CDMA. Oh well, I guess they need to get some better programmers and web designers.

Since they fired their sales and marketing people they probably have the janitor doing the website. Seriously, Palm is in big trouble. They have the Treo Pro for 44 days before admitting they lost it. It is so embarrassing that they cannot even process the simpliest of tasks without issue.

Yikes! They sell for $500 shipped new while the 800w sells for only $225 shipped new?

Why would you be surprised? Unlocked smart phones are always worth 100-200 more because of carrier subsidies on the locked version.

If you looked on ebay you'll see Treo Pro's for $350, $345, $380, $365, $399, $410 etc. Paying $475-500 is too much, imo.

All of those people ate the differene too since there are no subsidies on that phone.

I guess you are unaware that Treo 800ws can fetch low because Sprint subsidizes their phones and some people can sweet talk them for below the 2-year new contract price.

This happens all the time with Sprint phones, like this poor sap who couldn't sell his Diamond that he had for 1 day. Took 2 weeks and he had to sell at a loss.

The first 5 you posted are USED. The $410 didn't sell because the seller has +1 Feedback. I wouldn't buy from either. If you've used eBay before you know the tricks. The unit I am selling is NEW (since the morons at Palm lost it which wound up being a good thing) and also comes with an extra 1500mAH battery and battery door.

    Fair enough, then here's some: $400, $410, $430, $433 (opened, not used), $440 + 2 Palm chargers (Car + Int'l ~$70 value)

Sell it for what you want, not my business. I'm just pointing out that they go well below $500 NIB; below $400 slightly used/opened box.

Hey, we agree, it will sell in between $400-$500. It isn't mine so I'm just the middle man. I will just auction it. Whatever it gets, it gets.

ROTFLMAO I guess he missed that.

The 800w's that sell on Ebay are subsidized by Sprint and that's why they sell for $225 shipped new? I don't think so. If that were true, the Touch Pro would be selling for the same price but that phone is about $450 new on Ebay. HUGE difference.

    Wrong.

    Sprint Touch Pro $280.99 NIB

I'm guessing you are quite unfamiliar with how eBay works since this is the second thing you are incorrect about (the other was Treo Pros for $500)--do you routinely overpay for your smartphones? If not, why are encouraging others to do so?

I think most of us who frequent Ebay realize the Sprint Touch Pro averages a much higher selling price than $280 for most auctions. Anyone with an Ebay account can use this link and see for themselves. You'll have to click the link and then login to see the search results for "Sprint HTC Touch Pro" sold New, completed listings, with a selling price between $200 and $1000.

Edit: Here's a different link with similar search criteria, except the text being searched on is "Sprint Palm Treo 800w".

Correct. Good to see that you know how to search Ebay as well. When looking at the Buy It Now listings and not random auctions, it's clear to see that the Touch Pro sells for nearly $200 more than the 800w. I wonder why?
