In my case, you might be.
Your battery drainage findings may still be valid in certain cases.

From what I see, the radio chip hangs or is in a loop, and any process that polls the radio chip is waiting for it to respond. I noticed this with Spb Mobile Shell, Winterface, etc. This problem existed on the HTC Trinity before too with certain radio roms, it was fixed in later radio roms.
Maybe I have a very unique issue.

My new battery came yesterday, I charged it overnight, Phone drained to 16% in 3 hrs.
(Remember, this is right after a Hard Reset, so no 3rd party sw.)

My next test is the clincher:
I charged back up, took the sim card out, and put the phone in flight mode.
(Radio, wifi, bt, Ir, everything off)
3-1/2 hrs later it's @ 13%

So it must be something in the pda that's draining the battery so fast.
I will be calling palm for an RMA tomorrow.

The battery drainage on my Pro is rather erratic. I can always make it through the day (6:00 am - 6:00pm) easily but it is not the same on all days.

My pattern of usage is pretty consistent on a weekday. Day before yesterday I had 19% left after 12 hours, yesterday I had 43% left after 12 hours, today I am at 79% after 5 hours.

They gave me the choice to either send my Pro back for repair, or for $25 and a security deposit they would send me a refurb first and then I send mine back.

I chose to send mine back for repair.
I would rather have mine refurbed than to get a refurb that might be of the early batch of crack prone pro's.

That makes sense. Do you think they are actually going to repair yours or send you back a refurb anyway? Ofcourse you would be able to tell by the serial number.

What kind of turn around time are they estimating?

Thanks.

I don't remember what they said, either 5-6 days or weeks

Maybe the confirmation email they send me will say.

That's why I dilligently follow all your posts to anticipate problems with mine.

In fact I started tracking my battery usage after you reported problems with yours.

Good luck, hope everything works out for you.

It just started Friday. You can literally watch it discharge.

I went ahead and bought another battery from TC Store.

I'll call Palm Monday.
are you sure its not a software issue?
I had that too, but after a hard reset it went away.. so I blame some dodgy software eating up CPU time and draining the batteries..

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

Hard reset, Radio off, No sim, Still drained down in 4 hrs.

I tried all kinds of things.
It definitely an odd issue.
