Just wanted to point out that I've posted a newer version of my RealVGA.

It includes newer DLL's, and more options.

There's also the possibility that you can use the 800w or 700wx's dialer on your Pro (both in 128 DPI and 96 DPI). It'll try and install it, if it works or not is another story.

Cool. But can I use Japanese fonts and input (via CE Star) with this release?

am I the only person who uninstalled RealVGA? Because of the flush screen on the Pro, I tend to use my fingers and thumbs much more to hit buttons. When those buttons get smaller(start and htc task manager), it's more difficult to hit them accurately. It also seemed like the pro performed slower to me. I am also using SPB Mobile Shell, which looks exactly the same in 96 and 128 dpi modes so there was no benefit there. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I uninstalled RealVGA also. I prefer the look of it without. I actually thought I was the only one.

Nothing wrong with not using RealVGA.

Though it *DOES* do more than just increase your today screen size....

I have used RealVga for almost 2 months now. I can vouch that it has not slowed down my Treo Pro. However, I do use memmaid which keeps memory usage to a minimum and keeps the smartphone snappier. As for the touchscreen usability, I will admit in making icons and items smaller, it is less accurate to use the touchscreen but it is a small price to pay for the advantages it added to the phone. Ebag, I am travelling abroad and have not downloaded your recent realvga cab file. Does it fix the corrupt icons on the comm manager in the Pro? Can anyone confirm if it did? Ebag, thanks for your hard work. I appreciate the hours you put it in to realvga.

Please don't misunderstand me; I very much appreciate all your hard work. Unfortunately it's just not for me.

Like I said, nothing wrong with it. I certainly don't expect everyone to use it.

I can't understand how people can *STAND* using that tiny tiny tiny space, and when I go back to 128 DPI it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

But hey, maybe you were the kid that always did that in class.

I have just uninstalled realVGA too..
My TP was acting too strange and I want to test if RVGA caused it..
My TP would get very warm without doing anything obvious and it would drain the battery dry in hours.. so I suspect a rogue process.

If the problem does not return after uninstalling RVGA I know what the culprit was.. if it does I may install the new version..
Though I have to say that sometime the letters and clickable area's do get a bit small with it...
But I do like the look of it (what I can read anyway maybe I should get my eyes checked if I cant read the small print easily )

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

    Couple of things:

    1) If you were using the old version of mine, I *REALLY* recommend using the new version, and preferably from a hard reset. The old installer was a bit flakey, and there were some issues with it, so I wouldn't trust it unfortunately.

The good news is the latest version is built from an entirely different program, and I'm amazed at the difference it's made. Kinda ashamed for putting the crappy version out there previously.

    2) Real VGA doesn't install any .EXE's (well, other than the Dialpad, but that wouldn't be used by default on a Treo Pro anyway).

There are no "rogue processes" or battery drain from Real VGA, because it doesn't install anything that can cause a battery drain or rogue process. So there is definitely something else at play there.

It could be a process that doesn't like the .DLL's that RealVGA installs, but I find that extremely doubtful as they are just resource DLL's and I don't know of any programs that go rogue because they're missing an image.

What I'm trying to say is that if there was a problem with the Real VGA install, you'd know it. You'd be missing images, have images be the wrong images (like the help book instead of a folder icon for folders), etc. You wouldn't have processes go crazy.

    3) You shouldn't need to uninstall to test. At least on my version of RealVGA, setting back to 128 DPI (and soft resetting of course) undoes all the changes you made, as it tells the OS to look at the *.128.DLL files instead of *.96.DLL.

The only change it makes (aside from enabling/disabling today screen plugins) is the registry keys for the DPI, which is what WM uses to look at the *.XXX.DLL files. I could easily add *.192.DLL files if someone wanted even bigger icons than default (though your screen would be *HUGE* and you probably couldn't do anything).

    4) If it's text you are having trouble reading with Real VGA, try bumping up the text size in your settings. That allows you to keep the greater real estate while having a bit larger and easier to read text.

nope, havent had time to play around with it..

My PTP is much more stable after the hard reboot though, so at least it wasnt a hardware issue..
