We were not talking about the Treo. We all know it can charge through USB. I thought I was not getting a charge to the Touch Pro through USB. Both devices charge just fine.

zbop, will do. I will report my results tomorrow. Anything else you guys want me to do with the device please let me know.

Just wanted to add this. I actually thought this issue was a Treo 800 bug. Go to your storage card, find a picture and try opening it. It will not open. You have to go through the Pictures & Videos way. The Touch Pro is the same way. You have to go the same route. Obviously this is a WM 6.1 issue.

This might be something that you have installed. I've just tested this (actually running with my phone almost entirely stock ATM, except for RealVGA) and had no trouble opening .BMP's or .JPG's.

It could be another file format that is the problem though (Such as .TIF). Can you see what picture won't open through the file manager, and what the extension is?

I know that there are several programs when installed hijack your extensions. I hate it, so I avoid those whenever possible.

Thanks. OT, you still have the GT? I had a modded '04 Terminator for a short time, but got pulled over a lot (of course how I drove also had something to do with it), so I ended up trading it in. It was a blast though...

I think you and I talked about this awhile ago. Wasn't it Memmaid that was the culprit?

I just have my first lock up/freeze sorta. I was using Sprint Nav and it started to slow down and get a little nutty. My first soft reset since owning the device. Probably didn't need to do it but went ahead since it's been a couple of days.

I can't believe nobody has asked questions about the keyboard. I got a few things to say about it. First off HTC did something that nobody has ever done on a keyboard (at least the devices I've owned). You don't have to press a shift or function key to enter a number. You can type a number just like you type a lower case letter. I still find myself hitting the shift or function key to enter a number. Also when you slide the keyboard it does wake up the device. This is also new.

No, the GT is gone. I sold it a few months ago. I got enough to pay for a brand new truck out right. It is nice not having payments. Down the road when things get better I will get a new Shelby GT500. My GT made over 450HP but the new Shelby's make 540HP right off the lot. Blue with white racing stripes is what I want. My car was a show car. Only had 63,000 miles on it. As you can see just in the avatar is sat on carpet in air conditioned garage.

If you want to see pictures and videos of it I have provided links below.

I think so, but I don't recall you posting the actual extensions.

And if we determined that Memmaid was the culprit, why call it a WM bug? (Or did you just forget that we'd been over this? )

And the Shelby is far superior to a GT. Good choice.

Sweet, love the sound of it, cams sound threatening... lol, boys and their toys

If you get your GT500, definitely need to update your avatar, but won't be surprised if you're long gone by then.

    Thanks.

I found something in the Settings today. In the text messaging settings you can select either "Threaded" or "Classic".

Also would like to show you guys the new stylus keyboard. Finally someone made one that doesn't require pulling the stylus. You can actually type with your fingers on this keyboard.

Keyboard ^^ - are you suggesting you could use the Diamond instead of the Pro?
  10.    #90
No I am not. I like the hard keyboard but for those who still use that mini keyboard with a stylus for quick things those days are over. You can press the new mini keyboard with your fingers. The Touch Pro does not even need a stylus. Everything can be down with your fingers.

Thanks - keep think that maybe I might try a Diamond - but the few mm's of extra thickness of the Pro is really not gonna matter much - and it is better to have. Crap - I don't really *need* one of these I just want a new toy! Might just wait a few months and see what's coming down the pike by mid-year.

    Vibrant:

Just saw this post on the Palm help forums.

    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/me...d=39146#M39146

I think I have the answer... I just got off the phone (again) with "Advanced Technical Support" from our friends at Sprint and they told be, after more research, that the HTC Touch Pro does not support standalone GPS, either. They said that there is a known issue with it and they do not know if it will every be fixed. They eluded to the "fix" being to retract the statements that it supports standalone GPS. So, if you're waiting for the Touch Pro to be your GPS solution, you might want to look elsewhere (or at least test it a lot before 30 days are up). So it seems that it's true that Sprint offers no handsets that support standalone GPS at this time.
Have you tested GPS as standalone yet?

It's going to be difficult for him to do this unless he loads an application like TomTom or Garmin (or some other GPS program I guess, doesn't actually have to be a personal navigation program) since he uses the Sprint Navigation which inherently requires a data connection. He could also possibly try GPSgate and see if it attempts a data connection when initializing GPS.

    http://franson.com/gpsgate/download.asp?platform=winxp

Vibrant, if you do manage to find a program that doesn't use data at all (meaning no Google Maps, no Live Search, no Telenav, no Sprint Nav), be sure and test the standalone-ness (heh) by turning off the phone radio, performing a soft reset, and then attempting to initialize the GPS.
  14. #94
He could use Google Maps. Just enable wifi, make sure you're connected.

Edit: Have found no confirmation on standalone GPS on the Sprint TP yet (no one cares at ppcgeeks?). Anyone else find anything?

Here's a thread on GPS lag + Sprint Navigation...haven't read through it yet.
I tried out Sprint Nav yesterday (long after a hard reset and using QuickGPS multiple times) and the lag was just as bad on it as it is on Garmin for me. About 3-4 seconds...which is ridiculous!
I have the same lag... it is usually a block behind..

Oh crap, I hope that's not true. I don't put much stock in anything Sprint tech support says, but I also haven't seen anyone confirm that it's standalone.

It doesn't bode well for the Treo Pro on Sprint.

Wait...that is Mogul, lol. hold on...

Update: dunno if anyone has tried a Sprint TP in Europe yet.

The GPS Lag/Sprint Nav was definitely TP though.

Total BS in regards to the Mogul. Standalone GPS locks very quickly. Under 2min in standalone and approx. 5 seconds in Assisted. Sounds like someone didn't know how to test or was running an old ROM or radio revision. Remember that the radio makes a ton of difference with regards to GPS performance.

I can confirm that the Diamond has Standalone GPS and I'd be willing to bet that the Touch Pro does as well.
