D'oh! I've had QT Pro for so long about all I remember are those wretched grayed-out boxes. Not my favorite way to incentivize the up sell.

For $30, however, QT Pro gives an amazing -- and amazingly well hidden! -- amount of pro level editing ability. What's the value prop to Kinoma's pro version? And is that a good representative of pro-level WinMo app prices?

With the iPhone App Store "racing to the bottom" of the 99 cent heap, it's nice to see developers actually getting decent, desktop level prices for their work.

I'll go grab the BT patch, thanks for letting me know! I missed 3 more calls on the commute home today, unable to answer via BT! (My province has a law against cell phone use in cars, so BT is essential).

The value prop is all those functions that you wanted on the free version but found an upgrade notice instead! There's some other stuff too like the ability to save stuff while streaming, 'skins' and more than 10 search results.

To load a podcast you can either open the xml or whatever feed url and save that as a favourite or you can post on a section of Kinoma's forum (Media Guide) and they usually add it to the Kinoma Guide.

    For mac people,
if the app isn't available to download as a cab, how do you install it? If it isn't a cab it's an exe, which is useless to mac, right?

Useless without an emulator yes but at least it looks great while it's being useless ;->

You guys are awesome! Thanks so much!

    Last question:

What's the best way to take screen shots? I need to get the review up soon, and I'd like to include screen shots if I can (otherwise I'll photograph the screen like I did with Android).

Is there a built in utility for this like the iPhone, or an easy app download?

    Much appreciated!

Not only that--Dieter was missing something too... namely the free version. He said in his podcast interview with Charles Wiltgen of Kinoma that he went straight for the paid one (probably based on previous experience with the Palm OS version, though that part is just me doing my best to read between the lines).

Gotta admit, tho, I felt abandoned by the Palm OS eventually, so my attention wondered to the iPhone, which in many ways I feel is the technological successor to the Zen of Palm OS.

WinMo I used back on an HP Jornada and v5, but nothing since then. Less Zen, if I remember, and more pure power.

So am I hopelessly out of touch? What's the latest generation like?

What do I absolutely have to do first? Any tips and tricks to share with a Treo Pro N00b?

Any must-get apps? Anything to utterly avoid?

Thank you, Rene...for the video on the Palm Treo Pro. Unfortunately, I do not own one and have not even used one (I am getting a Blackberry Bold), so I cannot honestly give suggestions, etc...however, I'd like to buy an unlocked Treo Pro for my wife as a Christmas gift. So I'll gladly read your full written review when it becomes available, the comments here and elsewhere by users, and the video review posted recently was very helpful. So thanks!

Thanks everyone so much for all the help and patience. I'm moving over to WMExperts this week with the HTC FUZE, so if anyone wants a chance to win that (plus a Redfly!), please follow along with me!

I don't understand this at all. I had a 680 and now have a PRO...the PRO has 3G...680 did NOT....how could you say the PRO is laggy?...
are you referring to something other than what I am reading into this?

I think the PRO rocks. I was very used to POS, and afraid of all the posts saying WM was too much extra effort. I like it on the PRO. No stylus necessary.
