You are testing GPS out in the open, right? Not inside a building or anything like that, right?

Yes, make sure you are out in the open.
I have another program and had problems searching for satelites on my Pro before. What I did, I changed the program port to COM2 and also manually set the program to use that port.

Why don't you give it a try on your pro and see if it works.

Maybe QuickGPS isn't up to date or set to download data automatically (Start,Programs,QuickGPS). That would make it take longer to ocate a satellite, though 15 mins is quite long if you're out in the open and not surrounded by trees or tall buildings when you try.

Changed the com ports, didn't make a difference. I've tried to get a lock in my house and car, my previous iphone would get a lock in seconds and was about 100 yds off as Nokia Navigator in my house. In the car, iphone would get a lock almost instantaneously, Nokia a little slower not so with treo pro.
I called palm and the first thing they offered was to hard reset my device, since I wasn't near my pc I wasn't ready to do that.
Quick GPS hasn't made a difference at all.

It also takes my TP long to get a GPS lock but this is no different from my HTC TyTN II. I usually use GPS Test to get a 3D lock before starting my navigation app [MapKing 2007].

    GPS Test is free.

GPS test couldn't get a fix. There's a thread I've subscribed to on Palm's forum, seems I'm not the only one having problems with my GPS.
