Call again, if the next person says no, hang up and call again, until you get someone nice.

Oh yea, Thanks for posting your S/N, we may eventually find a common thread.

    Cracks here:
    - one by the ringer switch
    - three near the volume button

    Serial number is P4GU09M8H0GC.

Purchased from Palm, received in US in late September. Never been dropped nor subjected to extreme temperature. Usually kept in pocket.

Let me get this correct, you carry your Treo Pro in your front or back pocket and sit down which subjects the phone to unusual bending and you want to complain about cracks. Buy a side case and quit your whining.

Why are you telling him to quit whining?

The posts concerning your activities with your Pro have an air of 'wild abandon' about them - you appear happy to take risks. It's as though you have a dozen replacement Treos waiting in the wings. Don't get me wrong - I like it. Oh, and your avatar adds to the impression

No cracks, yet. By the looks of some of the other similar S/Ns I should be expecting one . Will keep a beady eye out.

Purchased brand new and unopened from an eBay seller, received November 4th. Unsure of original place of purchase but will email the seller and enquire.

Kept naked apart from a Martin Fields screen protector, normally in my pocket.

Crack in the right top corner of the body, just above where the corner of the screen is (I use a lot the TaskManager Quick Menu button).
Bought mid October brand new from ebay.

Update - I use a Side case with the Naked Treo Pro, and have never dropped it.

After catching the news story on the front page I checked and sure enough had a couple of cracks around the Power/End key and around to the wifi button. I called Palm and was issued a repair number within an hour and shipped the phone off for replacement for free.

Just thought I would pass it along.

Found at work some coworkers who have the pro. 2 others do not have cracks, and noted that they waited a month before getting theirs.

One coworker ordered just after shipping release, and now has cracks. Info:

    Handhelds
    Zire 31-> Zire 72s-> T|X

Small notch (less than 1mm) between Volume and Camera buttons; from battery cover side. Still monitoring that notch.
    (1) The notch between Volume and Camera buttons is a bit more visible but haven't yet developed into a crack.
    (2) But I just noticed a hairline crack between the top of the WiFi button to the battery cover (I've put a vote in the poll).
I carry the TreoPro in a "no-name" sideways leather belt holster.

One Treo Pro in my possession. One week old. Hairline crack across the top left hand corner (when you are facing the Treo Pro front on). The crack is only in that corner which is a part of the front facing faceplate. The hairline crack is visible (I don't need to run a thumbnail over it to detect it).

Palm needs to go and get their shells made somewhere else. This is a poor quality faceplate and if it doesn't last a week (no drops), then they have serious problems.

    Serial No: P4GUE8X8H09P

Notice the phone is made in Taiwan. Hope this is not HTC...they've been a history of poor quality for me when it comes to Windows Mobile devices.

    UK Treo Pro.
    2 cracks:
    1. Near stylus port
    2. Power switch

    Serial:
    P4NU08V8H0Y6
    It's Vodafone branded.

Do I call Vodafone or Palm????

Had it since UK release (about mid sept I think)
    Never dropped
    Don't use a case
2 weeks ago no visible cracks. Can't revote in the poll, as I have previously voted no cracks.

as I said before, I highly doubt this is a "bad batch" issue.

    Agreed.

There are some conditions some are encountering that others are not. (Could be temperature or something else other than just being dropped.) But I see this like the 800w paint (rubbing off the buttons) issue. Eventually more will experience it. Unless the material composition of the housing is changed, I think this will be an ongoing concern in Treo Pro land.

These results are getting disturbing for those of us who have been long term Palm supporters and want to keep on buying their products. I have a feeling we will be seeing 70% cracked units withing 3 months and higher after that. I'm off the batch theory and keep checking my replacement unit multiple times per day for the inevitable. However, I still have hope....
