    How about working on hannips poutlook sms efforts that seems to have stalled?

    BTW, keylight works great. I missed that from my 700wx days.

    Thanks, Zbop. It's great to have this functionality again. Now if only the side button hack worked without blowing up my WiFi button...

    If you need help with anything let me know. I can code and test.

    I am using these registry entries with no problem for side press.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C7]
    @="\"\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Camera.lnk\""
    "WndCls"=""
    "Flags"=dword:00000000
    "BtnWnd"=dword:00000000
    "Name"="side"
    "Icon"="\\windows\\shellres.dll,-8263"

    What is the side button hack? I tried a search, but too many things came up.

    Thanks

    It allows you an extra key assignment; It enables the side button without a hold as a separate assignable key.

    I just put it in. That one is perfect for the keylight toggle.

    ?? about that first line
    @="\"\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Camera.lnk\""

    I have default = "\Windows\Start Menu\Camera.lnk"
    Am I missing something there?

    Everything seems to be working.

    Thanks again

    Cut and paste the text between the +++ lines and save as a .reg file you can import the .reg file into the registry. Once you have imported the .reg file you can go to the button assignments and reassign the side button to keylight.exe

    Maybe someone can cab this up

    Thanks for offering, I may take you up on that later...

    Although if you can code and have the interest, why not just download EVC4.0 and the WM6 SDK, (both free), pick a project and jump in. There's no shortage of requests for tools around here.

    You have a point... I guess I've been waiting for some direction... LOL

    I'm not familiar with EVC so I'm looking at it now. I've got the WM6.1 SDK.

    Hmm... I've got VS 2k8 so I don't think I need EVC.

    Heheh, well I think Ebag the dead terrorist has signaled his intent to fix that here (note: the last-person-who-touched-it rule applies...), not to mention his mock death threats (I keel you, I keel you!!), I think it's just safer if I let him fix that one.

    Yeah if you have VS and the SDK, you're set. The only advice I'd give is, start simple, try compiling and installing the samples that are in the SDK, find something interesting among them and then make some simple modifications to it. From there it just depends on what you want to do, i.e. today plugin, applications, tools, or working on various hacks.

    Something I noticed re: Keylights. I installed it, turned the keyboard lights off and on, and off again, then decided to uninstall it. After the uninstall, the keyboard lights wouldn't come back on, even after soft reset. I re-installed, turned the lights back on, then uninstalled again, and everything is back to normal. Is this expected behavior? Not a big deal but thought I'd give you a heads up on that.

    Interesting...

    According to Zbop simply adjusting the brightness level should've kicked the keys back on but I don't know.

    Ah I didn't try adjusting the brightness level to bring them back. Maybe I'll do it again and try that just to see.

    Update: You're correct, sir! Adjusting the brightness does bring the lights back after uninstalling with them off.

    It does. Adjusting brightness will bring back the lights after uninstalling with them turned off.

    Zbop Is Back!

    It figures he'd figure this out in 2 seconds.

    Glad to have you back zbop and no I'm not one of those guys that will get all up in your face about hijacking projects like some we know. I won't mention names. It benefits us all. I'm not in it for the fame. You are welcome to hijack any of my projects without asking. I've been crazy busy at work lately so I haven't been keeping up with my treo projects for a few weeks.

    Welcome back zbop.
