Really interesting thing happened to my supervisor's treo, well its actually pretty broken due to an exchange server policy test. We setup the policy to for encryption and things like that so the policy took effect on his phone, and asked for pin, so we also did a pin reset to just mess around with everything and after the 4th attempt it hard reset the device and now its almost useless. It turns on, but the backlight comes on then goes dark after a minute, and can't do a hard reset or receive calls, but can call out for about a minute or two and then its dead. This could be just an isolated case, but we can't test it because the policy applies and then all the phones on our exchange will be affected. Plus it would be back if we bricked the ceo's phone. So what are your thoughts on this?

Why can't you do a hard reset? Is it because it contains data, that shouldn't be removed or just enable to do a hard reset? I know it's tricky doing a hard reset on the phone, but after a few tries, I ws able to do it.

Also, is the battery almost dead?

If it won't take any inbound anything and can only do outbound then the radio is probably wiped. Hope you have TEP.

The battery was the seidio extended and we tried many times and when the hard option to press up to hard reset it doesn't do anything. The policy was removed from the exchange server so the other phones weren't affected.

VibrantGT yes he has tep and they are giving him a new phone, but we were just wondering why everything even the radio data was wiped.

Same thing happened to me after 7 days of ownership. It was not determined why. Many have experienced the same thing.

Were you connected to the exchange? Or did it just happen during your ownership? I'm trying to isolate it to where if it was the exchange policies caused the death or it was bound to happen and it just did while we were messing with it.

The phone at the time may have been connected. The only reason I found out was I had not got a call in like 4 hours. Finally I called my wife and she told me that she called 10 times. I did a hard reset and again nobody could get through. I took it to the Sprint store and they told me the radio was wiped. Then said this was not the first. They had got a bunch in the last two weeks for this very reason. My replacement started to miss calls and the ringer would turn itself off. After a few days of a bunch of missed calls I exchanged it for a BlackBerry. The Curve is a solid device. It was so solid that I actually got bored that I could not tinker. Only reason why I came back to the 800. Sorry for the long reply.

Oh, thats cool. I came from a curve, I like the device quite a bit, but the quliaty of the phone sucks compared to the quality of the treo 800, I went through 3 in matter of 2 weeks, kept getting dust under the screen and other issues. But as far as my supervisors treo goes, we probably could of done a RTN reset and reprovision the data and what not but he liked the idea of getting a shiny new phone lol.

The reprovision may have not worked. At least it did not with mine. My got dust under it too. I had the T-5 screwdriver and would open it up and use compressed air to remove the dust. I did it like 5 times.
